I’ve had my box about a year and a half and last night a mgs ‘somethings wrong’ you hard drive need repairing. I followed the procedure and it came up again, but that as far as I can get, it won’t let me ignore msg or delete recordings or do a factory reset as ‘somethings wrong’ msg reappears
Please could you tell us which model of Humax recorder you own?

Done that but message still stays on screen (as above)
Do you know if you have a masthead amplifier and if so how it is powered? I think the message is a warning but not a serious problem.
Auto scan work’s great, all programs now-thanks
Good news, thanks for letting us know.

Is a HUMAX FREEVIEW able to get this content (e.g. C271) but YOUVIEW not?
Based on a very brief tes,t my Humax Aura (Freeview+) box can stream from channel 271 “Channelbox”.

There are only one or two exceptions: e.g. C265 tells me to press RED to launch the app. and functions thereafter. On the other channels which have no ’tile’ I see messages such as ‘Connect to the Internet to view this channel’ or ‘Your device is not connected to the Internet”. For example: C271 “Channelbox” says it is ‘FREE multi-channel streaming via your Internet connection’ and tells me to ‘Connect Your Freeview Receiver to Start Watching’.
There are posts on a BT Forum saying it isn’t available on Youview see https://community.bt.com/t5/Archive-Staging/ChannelBox/td-p/2157671

A couple of months ago my Aura crashed, and it deleted many of my recordings upon a restart. I thought these were lost until I installed the fx explorer app from Google Play as I had noticed the storage space had not returned to a higher level.
Sure enough, fx explorer has found my “lost” recordings from before the crash and the files are playable through the app. But the problem is that in the aura recordings interface they still will not show.
Interesting observation.
Is there a way to make the Aura show these recordings again? I really don’t want to erase the HDD and start from scratch.
You could experiment by moving one of the recordings into the “Upload” directory (Recordings/Upload) which is intended to restore recordings that have been copied off the box.

I couldn’t get any BBC channels, so I stupidly reset factory settings. Now I can’t get any channels and cannot tune in anything. It’s a very old (2012) Humax freesat box but I have recordings of my daughter on it so don’t want to throw it away.
I would suggest the most likely problems are that the dish is very slightly out of alignment or there is a problem with the LNB.

Signal strength is only 75%, the quality is 100%
Signal strength of 75% is fine; indeed too high a signal strength can reduce the quality.
Also, message “terrestrial antenna is short circuited”
In Settings> Installation, turn off antenna power which is only needed if you have a masthead amplifier powered through the coaxial cable.
The strange thing is, I can receive all channels when I don’t watch TV through Humax box!!
Have you tried retuning the Humax yet? (Settings> Automatic search)

The power saving is the bigger plus for me in a PVR. I’m presuming only data is stored on the drives in an Aura and not settings or firmware?
I hadn’t thought about power saving. I must admit whilst my Aura is under warranty I haven’t opened it to see what is on the hard drive but I think it is safe to say the firmware will be in flash on the motherboard and very probably the settings. Please let us know how you get on and what make and model of hard drive is fitted to your Aura.

I was seeking to upgrade a 500Gb one to a 2Tb SSD.
See my answer in the thread that you started.

Has anyone upgraded an Aura HHD to SSD? I’ve got 500gb unit and would like to use a 2Tb SSD. Has anyone attempted this?
I don’t recollect anybody reporting fitting an SSD to an Aura but they been fitted to other Humax PVRs. I see no reason why you can’t fit an SSD but it will have a finite life governed by the Terrabytes written (TBW) parameter so a better quality drive with a higher TBW will last longer. You should be aware though that the only real gain from an SSD will be lack of noise; a conventional hard drive has more than adequate performance for PVR usage.

Look at your Schedule scroll down till you see Doctors the listing for the old SD one and delete it.
Go back to the TV guide look for Doctors on your BBC1 SD channel and you should now be able to set it to series record again.
Thanks. When I looked at the schedule of recordings there was one showing the four episodes for the coming week but it didn’t show in the guide and based on experience from earlier this week they wouldn’t have recorded. I deleted that schedule and it still wouldn’t let me set a series recording for Monday. I them went back to the schedule and right at the bottom of the list was another entry for Doctors showing zero episodes. Deleting that entry then allowed me to set a series recording from Monday onwards. So all good, thanks again for the advice.

If you had originally set it to record from BBC One HD, would the aura let you record the remainder of the series from BBC One SD?
Good idea. I normally record Doctors in SD and it is SD where I can’t series record (but can record individual episodes) but I have tried BBC One HD and can series record Doctors there.

I have just set a series recording for “Doctors” using the aura app, I will see if it records the episodes next week.
I presume you hadn’t previously recorded Doctors? I think everything is working as it should but it is a pity the BBC didn’t use a different SCRID on the Doctors replacement programmes.
