Had my Auro for about 10 days and majority of the time I start it up it starts to no signal??

Are you putting the box in deep standby or normal standby? My experience is that normal standby usually starts up fine at the expense of a little more power usage.

My old 5000 used to take 20 minutes to start up and there was no way to tell whether it actually would.

If the aerial is connected direct to the TV does the picture come on immediately?

Could this be because its a new film and humax is an old box and has different coding.

The Aura isn’t an “old box” and the apps get updated even if the core operating system doesn’t.

Region, yes, it’s signals coming from Hannington.

This is the last info I have on the switchover https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/articles/2023/changes-bbc-one-hd-freeview-youview-england

I agree with you it is sensible to wait.

Actually, second thoughts, I think i’ll wait until the end of the month when the BBC are supposed to finish the local HD switchover.

Which TV region are you in?

As far as I am aware, the London update is already completed.

I found an article that suggests the following regions will be updated on or about 26th April:

    North East and Cumbria

    North West

    West

    South West

    South (including Oxford)

    East (including Cambridge)

    South East

Apple tv now no longer works due to some random Internet error (definitely not having ISP issues).

Apple TV has always had reports of problems on the Aura.

Amazon prime doesn’t work on certain films/programs due to HDMI issues (have a brand new high speed cable).

Can you give an example of something that doesn’t work please?

Also getting random black screen with no picture but i get sound. (guess ill use my imagination then)

Well known problem; sometimes simply changing channel and then back again restores video, other times it is necessary to put the box into standby and wait for the hard drive to stop spinning and then start it up again. More rarely only putting the box into standby and then turning off electrical power for 10 seconds will restore things.

Should these apps work absolutely fine or is it the box?

My guess is that at least some of the problems with apps are due to the rather ancient version of Android TV that the Humax is using.

Is anyone else having these kind of issues?

Most of the issues you describe have been reported here on several occasions.

My wife was an avid TV and recorder user. Whilst my interests meant I rarely watched it. I say was, because she died one day after our 61st wedding anniversary some months ago.

    Sorry for your loss.

This meant my life and interests changed considerably. I decided today that I would like to record something and on turning on I got exactly the same response as described in this thread.

This is a four page thread; please explain exactly what problems you are seeing.

Could be you need to do a manual retune.

First thing I would try is an automatic tune with the Smart tune option disabled.

I have tried everything from Changing the cable to changing the settings.

Has anyone else had this issue? And know of a fix?

Is the HDMI lead you are using support HDMI version 2.1 ?

The schedules had previously been deleted. However, I think I may have discovered the reason. Several days previously I had restored a backup of my settings.

Yes that makes sense; thanks for clarifying.

I had an issue with dish not finding satellite, so stupidly I thought maybe a reset of my HB1000s may help but now I’m stuck because the Humax box won’t let me go through the first time installation because the dish is not set to satellite.

Is there anyway of getting out of this situation.

The obvious solution is to use someone else’s working satellite connection to get the box working again.

I noticed this morning that about 10 old schedules had re-appeared at the bottom of my schedules list. Obviously, these all showed no upcoming programmes as all the series had finished weeks ago. Some examples: “The Catch”, “24 Hours in A&E”, “Surgeons at the Edge of Life” etc.

My question is, how can this happen?

Had you deleted the old schedules? If not they hang around; on other Humax Freeview boxes I think it is for 13 weeks and they are then automatically deleted; I am not sure if the Aura does this.

I had an FVP-5000T but I swapped it for an Aura because the old box wouldn’t access UK ITV’s catch-up service. Before the swap I exported a load of recordings to a USB-attached HDD (yes I know the HD ones are encrypted). Now I have the Aura installed I’m trying to import the old recordings. (I had hoped to be able to attach the HDD to the Aura and have it see them directly; vain hope, so FTP from another device seems to be the only option).

I have already replied to your post over at hummy.tv.

I checked the VLC settings and it was set to “digital audio passthrough”. But having just gone back into the Humax settings I thought I’d switch the audio setting “Home Cinema via HDMI” to “Optical or HDMI Arc” and hey presto, I now have ATMOS playback from the films on the USB stick! Not sure why that setting

works, I presumed the Home Cinema would be the obvious setting, evidently not!

    Well done.

    Thanks for your help.

I don’t think I did help other than prompt you to dig around settings.

Using VLC media player downloaded to the Humax

Have you done anything with VLC settings? A couple of suggestions found with google:

Preferences / all / detect Dolby “active” / Dolby surround

    or

Preferences / all / Audio / Force detection of Dolby Surround / On

Please let us know if they help.
