The remote control for the Humax Foxsat has extra buttons near the FF/RW buttons that do this function, do these remotes work on the PVR machines?

    No.

Alternatively will the Humax stream recorded HD TV to a Sony PlayStation 3 or some other media streaming receiver.

The HDR will send HD to any client that supports DLNA and DTCP-IP; currently the only client that meets that specification is the FOX-HD T2 but I would expect the choice to widen over the coming year.

I have a replacement, Humax 9300T pvr coming on thursday and have 50 odd progs recorded on my existing one, and would like to copy some on to my other humax 9200T to watch later.

The only way to do this is to open the 9300 (which may invalidate the warranty) attach the hard drive to a PC either directly or with a USB to SATA converter. Then use humaxrw http://humaxdisk.wikispaces.com/HumaxRW to copy them to a PC. Then open the 9200 and connect the hard drive to a PC (this will need a USB to IDE adapter) and copy the programs from the PC to the 9200 using humaxrw.

People will only be able to help if you say which model(s) the boxes are.

I followed the steps posted (i bought the two cables and have used the flash thingy along with the hdf file from the hummax website which began doing the update but eventually i get the error message “error location 13950. wanted (06) got (0) halting”.

The fact that the error location is reported as 13950 means two things:

    your System ID is correct

the update procedure got a long way before failing.

Was anything else running on the computer when you were trying to update? I suggest shutting down as many programs as you can on the computer and trying a few more times.

Same video streams fine to a Windows 7 laptop so I suspect it’s the Hummy being funny?

Is the Windows 7 laptop connected wirelessly? I would try temporarily connecting the Humax by a cable to the router to see if the problem is the Humax or the network. My money is on something in the network.

Realisticaly Option 3 is the way I’ll go for now so can anyone on this foruim tell me how to reset the system ID so I can re-program via PC to get my system software up to date once and for all? Presumably at that point it will keep itself up to date again OTA for future upgrades.

You need to connect the serial port on the Humax to a PC and apply a special file to fix the System ID. You can then apply the firmware update which should greatly improve the behaviour of you box. If you want the special file then please send Barry or myself a Personnal Message with your email address. In my (biased) opinion the easiest way to do the required updates is to use my flash9200 utility. See http://www.tynecomp.co.uk/flash9200.html for a description of the process, the parts needed and a download link. Come back and ask if you need further help.

What is the best way to get the picture looking ‘normal’. Can it be done from the Humax menu or do I need to change the TV display?

Ypu haven’t told us about your setup so we are guessing. I would start on the Humax by looking at Menu>Preferences>A/V Control>Display Format.

Has anyone managed to open up Remote Control RM-F01 without breaking anything, there appears to be no screws available?

Not quite what you want but there is a guide to opening the RM-F04 remote at hte wiki on hummy.tv

I’d like to see PVR manufacturers offering the same options, especially for those with large screens.

As Graham has said you are directing your fire at the wrong target. You should be complaining to the broadcasters. Personally I would prefer fewer channels and better quality broadcast streams.

I’d meant to say that 1.00.026 was obviously stable as it must have been tested, etc. And that it was originally issued, as I recall, to fix a freeze after a DTT platform change.

Sorry but wrong again. 1.00.23 was the version that fixed problems that some people were experiencing during and post DSO. 1.00.26 was mainly bug fixing and improved functionality.

can i test it with my digi camera as per all remotes or has it ceased to work because of the software prob.

There is no way the software problem can have broken the remote. Yes you can test it with a camera. I assume you have checked the batteries?

The DTG run a update testing service to which manufacturers have agreed to send updates in advance. 1.00.26 must have been tested and passed when first supplied. If, if the rumour is true, there has been a change to the DTT platform, Humax should have checked out 1.00.26 against this usually well publicised change.

I think you are perhaps misinformed. The problem is with old versions of the software not 1.00.26. The people posting on this thread have uniformly been using versions earlier (I think) than 1.00.23.

Is it possible to remove the encryption from the HD-Fox T2’s recorded files?

I understand this is possible with the HDR model, but is there no way to use the Foxy software for the HD model?

The only way to do this is to install the user community enhanced software, which then allows the box to be temporarily booted in HDR mode to decrypt recordings.
