It could be anywhere within the scheduled start and end times. I know she occasionally gets a “No Signal” message when watching live (she’s in a flat with a communal siganl – not possible to improve).
Are you sure the box is correctly tuned? Have you tried a manual tune?
I’m guessing that the 9300T automatically stops recording if there’s a signal drop-out, even if it’s only momentary.
Last time I tried this (on a 9200 but they are similar) it continued recording and there was a jump on playback.

Surprised the downgrade/upgrade did not work
Barry, I have seen a good few reports of this problem and in about 50% of cases the downgrade/upgrade procedure works but in others it doesn’t; no idea why.

I’ll move back to 1.01.09 for now, but would 1.02.20 be worth a try, do you think?
The simplest solution to your problem would be to install 1.02.20 (which I think will still show the permanent deleting problem). Then install the custom firmware which will give telnet access. Then isssue the commands:
rm /mnt/hd1/filebglastop.dat
reboot
BTW – My wife managed to get through to Humax Support who said there was nothing that could be done as the Hard Drive was irrepairably damaged.
Nonsense from Humax support.
There is a single file that is corrupt. What I don’t understand is that there are two flavours of this problem. One that is fixed by installing 1.01.09 and then reinstalling the latest version and one where the problem reappears when the latest version is reinstalled.

That is very helpful thank you. Do you know how I can contact the humaxrw author so that I can find out what would be involved?
Just post here. I suspect it would involve running a program to capture an image of the Humax file system after attempting to reload a few programs.

I can’t really understand why the strength/quality of some channels can be worse than others, if they’re all transmitted from the same place and why they fluctuate (on a very calm sunny evening down here in East Devon).
Poorly fitted connectors can produce this effect. Graham’s suggestion of water in the cabling is another possibility. I suggest a careful look at the cabling is in order.

Would I be right in assuming that if we run humaxrw recovery mode we will definately be able to then format the 9300 and then carry on using it as normal BUT the only question is whether or not we can replace the programs?
Absolutely correct. I am reasonably confident that if you are prepared to cooperate with the humaxrw author, he will be able to fix the problem that prevents them being replaced.
You say that a couple of people have reported problems so can I take this to mean that it has worked for other users?
The issue being reported appears to be specific to the 9300. I know that humaxrw can copy files back on a 9200 and the differences between the file systems are small.
I’m not familiar with the file formats used on the humax but is the only way to view them by getting them back on to the recorder?
I am not an expert on this but I think you should be able to play them back from the PC as is; certainly with a little processing you definitely will be able to.

I program in recordings using the EPG. At the due time, a message like ‘Start recording by reservation’ displays, but nothing records.
Best guess would be that the file system is corrupt. Try watching any important recordings and then formatting the disk from the HDD Control Menu.

Well I mnually retuned following the instructions and….Well i’m afraid it didnt work!!Although everything seemed great for a while, the picture quality tonight on ITV was very variable, making the program almost unwatchable.
So what are the signal strength and quality when tuned to ITV?

Thank you very much for this Martin. Forgive my ignorance but after at quick glance at this does this mean I can then format the hard drive and then ‘reload’ the programs onto it?
That is how it is supposed to work and indeed how it does work on the 9200. It is certainly possible to download the programs from the 9300 but a couple of people have reported problems in putting them back. I have raised the issue with the author of humaxrw and he is happy to try and fix the problem but he needs the cooperation of a 9300 owner as neither he nor I own a 9300.

After getting home from work today I have gone to watch a recorded programme(on my PVR-9300T) only to discover that there aren’t any there! There should be about 170ish, there were last night.
The file system is corrupt. The only way to recover the programs is to open the Humax, connect the hard drive to a PC and use humaxrw in recovery mode to download the programs to the PC, see http://humaxdisk.wikispaces.com/HumaxRW

Although, you can put the previous version (.20) back and hope to get the internet radio back.
You can indeed install any version you like on the Humax but it will not bring the Internet radio back because it has been temporarily removed from the portal.

From all my reading, I believe the above box will only record from its tuners (or copy from a usb/sd card).
Correct and that is true of pretty much all the Freeview PVRs on the market.
Secondly, does the unit need to “register” an externally connected usb HDD before it can play video files
No. You can transfer files to the internal disk using an FTP client.

The channel numbers allocated are now all over the place – eg ITV1 is now 801.
You need to do a manual tune see post three in the following thread Manual tuning FAQ
Note to moderators: There really ought to be a manual tuning entry in the FAQ section for the SD models.

I used to be able to Web Browse my Hummy on my wi-fi network but now I can ping the IP address of my Hummy 192.168.1.67 but when I enter the address in IE browser my pc can’t find it. I’m on 1.02.28 software version & using IE Windows 7.
Did you update the custom software when the standard software updated to 1.02.28 happened?
