Do you know roughly when or how often the OTA updates are sent?
I don’t know when the next one is due but it won’t be before the beginning of September.
I don’t have internet access so I’m guessing this would affect my ability to do your
2nd option?
I am confused; you are posting here but don’t have Internet access?

My s/w version is hpt tf 1.00.18.
And the last update is dated Jan 13 2010.
OK so your problems are due to the software version; you definitely need a software update. Your options are to wait for the next OTA broadcast or to spend a few pounds on an adapter and cables and update from a PC see Link to flash9200

ok found the signal quality it is
strengjh 24%
quality 100%
the hdd test found no defects
and the software version is fhtcp 1.02.28
I would say the signal strength of 24% is your problem; the signal quality is fine but the low signal strength means there is very little margin to cope with interference etc. You haven’t answered my request for the channels numbers that are obtained from the signal detection screen by pressing right arrow. If you can provide a list of those and say roughly where in the country you are we can see if the low signal strength is a result of mistuning or something else.

hi martin
thanks for the reply i sorry i not to sure which signal you mean if the 2 i gave above werent the ones you asked a bout.
Watch something live via the Humax. Press Menu>Settings>System>Signal Detection; tell us the strength and quality numbers. Then from the signal detection menu press the right arrow (to the right of the OK button) and tell us the list of numbers.
i have been paying more attention to the errors and before the player blanks out with the channel is scrambled or not available message. it seems that the harddrive seems to go into over drive working very hard. also on some of the recorded programs the are parts missing as though there was a break in the recording.
That sounds like a hard drive or file system problem. Assuming you are running the latest software try Menu>Settings>System>Data Storage>HDD Test should take a minute or two; tell us what it reports.

My Humax 9200T does not record and programmes. When I press record, or set a programme to record, the programme appears in the list with a yellow dash next to it.
I think the next step is to format the disk from the HDD control menu (default password is 0000).

Do you know if Humax are going to do anything about this problem
Try asking Humax.
this problem this isn’t a one off and the other thing that I noticed is that all of the comments/questions that I saw re this problem showed it had happened in the last two months. Doesn’t that raise a concern too?
It certainly isn’t a one off but it isn’t very common; reports of the problem go back more than two months but there will be no reports earlier than February 2011 when the background delete was introduced at 1.02.07.

If a factory reset takes place, does it delete alll the saved recordings?
A factory reset will not delete all recordings; only a format will do that. However it is unlikely to fix your problem. The most likely fix is to install 1.01.09 from http://beta.humaxonline.co.uk/downloads/hdr-foxt210109. Check that the problem has gone. Then reinstall the latest version. In about 50% of cases the problem will be fixed. If not come back for further advice.

I do not have any problems with quality or signal strength on any of the channels.
It would be helpful if you could quote the numbers reported by the Humax.

I do not have any channels above 800 & the box has a very strong signal from one transmitter,
What are the reported signal strengths and qualities on the channels that have had problems?

I have missed recordings especially on series link.I have checked forward dates and ths programme is listed. I notice you can create a cushion but what are best settings.
One step at a time; which model of Humax do you have?

the doesnt seem to be a problem when watching tv through the box
No you misunderstood my request; what is the signal strength and quality reported by the Humax when watching programs live (particularly on channels where you have had problems with recordings)?

I set my PVR 9150T to record a few programes last night whilst I was out. I made sure to leave the box switched on. On my return, there were no sign of the recordings I had set. This is the 2nd time this has happened & I am at a loss to why.
It doesn’t matter whether the machine is on or in standby, it should still record. My first guess would be that your box is tuned to more than one transmitter; do you have any channels above 800?

the frequency of the signal problem varies greatly
but it can happen from every few minutes to once or twice pre hour.
As Barry suggests lets stay away from the custom firmware for now. Do you see the problem if you watch live rather than a recording?

while watching something the screen will go blank and the following message appears.
channel is scrambled or not available.
this is happening at random time periods during playback.
How frequently is this occurring? It could be that the file system is damaged which would need a format to correct (unless you are prepared to install the custom firmware).

I think they mean that programmes have started recording and then stopped for no reason, or they’ve programmed a recording only for it to record another.
How long have they had it? Biggles explanation is certainly one possibility but the other possibility is that the file system has become corrupted. This is easily fixed by formatting the drive from the HDD Control menu (default password 0000) but it will delete all recordings. I suggest try Biggles suggestion first but if that doesn’t improve things try a format.
