I then set the LAN up manually, and I’ve got network connected and the message has gone.
So what settings have you used manually?

You aren’t by any chance using the remote to power the box are you ?
Nothing wrong with doing it like that; it is what the instructions on the Humax web site suggest.
You have to use the power button on the box and hold it in till you see the update screen.
I think you are getting confused with the HD; it isn’t required for the HDR.
Otherwise try a different USB stick.
Agreed.

I tried using the TV Portal for the first time today. BBC iPlayer works OK but when I attempt to play a station in Internet Radio the screen says “loading” and then the PVR re-boots and resumes on the last used TV Channel.
I assume your box is not using the latest software. You need to update to 1.02.29 (which has not been broadcast OTA) to fix the problem with Internet radio.

Thanks, that does appear to have fixed it. Strange though as I’ve had twonky running on my NAS for years and not encountered this before.
Have you upgraded the version of Twonky recently? Version 6.x apparently didn’t cause the problem.
Any ideas why it happens?
No sorry, no idea.

I turn on the HDR-foxT2, wait approximately a minute then it reboots itself and is fine onwards.
The most common reason for this problem is that there is something else on your network (eg a NAS) running a DLNA server (usually Twonky version 7.xx). You can check if this is the problem by turning off the HDR DLNA server (Menu > System > Internet Settings > Content Share) temporarily and see if the problem goes away.

ALso Internet Radio stopped working at the same time – when you select a station the whole system shuts down and restarts.
What software version is your box using? Version 1.02.29 is supposed to fix the Internet Radio problem.

Do I need to do another retune or will turning the box off and on again suffice?
It sounds to me as though you need to do a manual retune see Manual tuning FAQ

Switching on and off clears the problem, just wait until any scheduled recording has finished if necessary.
My experience is different; recordings appear to be continuing but fail at the point where the on screen error message is displayed.

I just got this message whilst watching a recording.
We see this problem about once every 6 months. No idea what causes it but I don’t think it has any implications for the health of the box.

The signal bar shows 80% strength but the quality bar varies from 100% to 40% and all points between constantly.
That is the problem you need to sort out. 80% signal strength should be giving 100% quality. I would start by doing a manual tune using these instructions: Biggles manual tuning. If that doesn’t help then I would look very carefully at the cabling; for reasons I have never understood the Humax is more sensitive than other equipment to badly made joints etc.

ParticipantHow long are you waiting for the EPG to populate? It takes significantly longer with more recent versions of the software.

when the programme is on it shows that it is recording. However there is no recorded programme to watch.
One possibility is that the file system is becoming corrupted. Have you had any instance of duplicated entries for the same program? At the moment I would suggest keeping a careful eye on things. If it gets worse then watch any important recordings and then format the disk from the HDD Control menu.

Hi thanks , i don’t know what a ftp client is.
If you are using Windows then I suggest Filezilla which is open source and can be downloaded for free.

I’ve connected many times before, but not for a few weeks admittedly.
Has the box (or have you) installed a standard software update since the last time you used telnet? If so you need to install a new version of the custom software to match your current version of the standard software.

I can’t even get the box to load tonight. Any way of forcing it to load?
If you are prepared to take the lid off the Humax ( with the mains power disconnected) then try disconnecting the hard drive. If the box will now boot it suggests the problem is with the drive. If that is the case try running the hard drive manufacturers diagnostics on the drive. If they report it is OK then format the drive in a PC and then return it to the Humax.
