Do you think from your experience that the model variations in respect to Loader / Software may have some bearing on the “crash” issues we’re experiencing with YouTube?
There are a number of reports that suggest boxes with both the old hardware and the new tuner arrangement will play YouTube videos without the reported problems if using version 1.03.06. Unfortunately this version is not officially available for download. Admin edit: link removed.

I would like to play video from my PC to my humax fox t2. My first attempt was to use a wireless connection and a dlna server on my PC. Unfortunately although it starts to play back it just randomly stops every few minutes saying there is no connection.
That sounds like a network problem. Is it feasible to use a network cable? If not consider Homeplug Ethernet over power line adapters.

On the Humax if I ask it to record a series of programs then while a subsequent program is being recorded the Humax is completely locked off from the remote.
Something wrong in that case. We routinely have two recordings taking place and can watch something else or chase play the recordings.

and if you order it you will receive a HDR T2
Barry in your view and without giving anything confidential away, is it worth waiting for the proper HDR-2000?

I was fearing it was my T2 packing up.
As far as you know does a fix normally come in the form of a software update?
It depends on the nature of the problem. In this case my assumption is that YouTube have changed something; it might be that they can be persuaded to revert the change or more likely a software update will be required. The Humax policy with software updates has been odd recently with the last but one only made available for download and the latest one not made publicly available other than being installed on new and reconditioned boxes. We will just have to wait and see.

Each time I go to search YouTube it finds available videos OK, however when I select OK to watch, the T2 crashes, the TV screen goes blank for about 10 seconds and the box reverts the TV back to normal channels. I’ve tried removing the power and rebooting but it still misbehaves. I’m running 7.30a which has been OK till now.
There have been lots of similar reports for a few weeks. Humax are aware of the problem.

And software version FHTCP 1.03.06
That is the latest version of the software. New HDRs have a different tuner arrangement to most of the HDR boxes in circulation and there is currently not much knowledge of the foibles of the new hardware. I suggest you ring (not email) Humax support and discuss it with them.

Anyone have any ideas what that program might be or able to help windows view the files again?
You need a driver to read the EXT3 file system such as Link to EXT2FSD web site.

The Humax scale along the along the bottom of the TV screen has a mind of its own and keeps disappearin
Have you tried moving along the time line using the left and right arrows either side of the central OK button?

Isn’t it possible that the cleaning action with the standby battery still connected is enough to trigger the oscillator to start again? Let’s wait to see if anybody who has had the clock problem a second time is able to fix it by changing the crystal.
But if you read the original post by Biggles you would know that he actually measured the voltage produced by the contamination on the board and saw it decrease as he cleaned the board.

My fairly ancient 9200T has recently been putting the wrong titles to recordings and with some recordings duplicated them two or three times.
A conversation with Humax tech dept suggested that I manually retune the box which i have done with some success but it’s playing up again.
I really am beginning to despair at the poor quality advice that Humax technical support are dishing out these days. This is a very well known problem as BMAX has indicated. The file system is corrupt. The only fix is to watch any important recordings and then format the drive from the HDD Control menu item in the Record menu. If you do nothing then the next step will be that all recordings will be lost but the free space not recovered.
If the problem occurs again relatively quickly then it would suggest the hard drive is reaching the end of its life. Changing the hard drive is straightforward; finding a suitable one is difficult as they haven’t been manufactured for several years. Good luck.

What does auto delete actually mean Martin? -I archive some material using the USB link so wouldn’t want to lose some recorded material anyway.
It isn’t very well documented but as I understand it when space is running short the oldest recordings are removed to make space available. You can protect recordings from being deleted by locking them (Opt+ button which doesn’t need left arrow).

The left arrow button won’t move from NO to Yes when I want to delete a file so I will soon fill up the HDD drive.
As a workaround you can stop the hard drive filling up by turning on Auto Delete (Menu>Settings>Preferences>Recording>Auto Delete. It certainly sounds like a faulty remote to me.

Hi, a week ago I selected a video on youtube and before it started playing, the player rebooted, I tried again and it worked OK. Today I have tried several videos and each has caused the player to reboot, the related video thumbs appear on the right hand side and the loading symbol rotates but then green screen and restart. Is this youtube/ humax or is my box knackered & in need of warranty repair / replacement?
There have been several similar reports circulating for several days but concerning the HD-T2 box. I think this is almost certainly a software problem but exactly where the problem lies (YouTube, Humax Portal or unit software) I have no idea.

Do I need any special connecting lead, and is the procedure listed anywhere please?
You need a SATA to USB adapter unless you have a desktop PC with spare SATA ports. I will look for a link to a description of the process.
Any ideas how this might have happened
It is a relatively common problem (Barry doesn’t agree with me on that) but I don’t think anyone knows the reason.
