how do I format the drive with my pc.

Before formatting the disk, I suggest trying humaxrw with the new at version 1.15 option -Z which deletes the file that saves the EPG data. If that doesn’t help the format the disk Here is a link to formatting a hard drive Link to article on formatting. Make sure you format the Humax drive not the system disk.

please can you tell me what leads l should have connected and where the leads connect to, as l want to check l have assembled it correctly first?

Aerial cable to aerial in socket on Humax, optionally aerial fly lead from Humax to TV aerial socket, HDMI cable from Humax to TV (or alternatively SCART cable if the TV does not have an HDMI port), optionally network cable from network socket on Humax to router, power cable to Mains.

I still think the hard drive is either faulty or disconnected internally. Press Menu the select System > Settings> HDD > HDD Test. It should take less than a minute to tell you whether the hard drive is OK. What happens on your box?

This isn’t a common fault and I think you have just been unlucky. Contact whoever supplied the box and get it exchanged.

I am trying to set up this humax for the first time, and everything seems okay except when l go to record anything, it does not let me scroll to either record whole programme or record whole series, the only option l can highlight is reminder. When l try to record something instantly, l get a blue circle with a blue bar struck through the circle in the top right hand of my tv screen, does anyone know what this means and why l can not record any programme?

I would say that it sounds like a hard drive problem.

My DNS was showingall zeros, could that be it. If so how what DNS number do I put in? do i have to re set the router and if so how do I do that?

Try 208.67.220.220 which is Open DNS and will work with any ISP. An alternative is 8.8.8.8 which is Google DNS but I find Open DNS more reliable.

I would like to do the same on the 9150T. Can anyone let me know if I can use the same technique to access the Humax hard drive?

It won’t be exactly the same technique as the 9150 has a SATA drive. I think what people have done is use a SATA male to female cable eg Link to Maplin SATA cable to make the SATA port accessible from outside the case. There may well be a better way of doing it. I would note that the later HDR-FOX T2 makes all this much easier as standard and even easier still with the custom firmware.

is their a chance it could be damp in the wall socket or some kind of static build up and the 5v output is either drying something out etc, or is it a bad pvr/tuner

Water in the aerial cable is certainly a real possibility. It needs investigating ASAP because if there is water and finds its way into the tuner the box will need an expensive repair.

Could he be possibly browsing to an FTP location by enabling the built-in FTP server option on the T2 ?

I don’t think so; see post 6 in this thread.

I don’t know about that. I am coming to the conclusion that I am able to do this because I have the custom firmware installed.

woodturner has told us that he doesn’t have custom firmware installed at which point I gave up commenting as I don’t believe what he is doing on XP is possible without the custom firmware.

Interesting. What do you see if you put the Humax IP address into a web browser?

OK, in that case you need to explain exactly how you are doing the drag and drop file transfer from XP to Humax.

On my PC network I have a Win XP machine.

I can use this to load new films etc. onto the HDR Hard disc from my PC via the network with drag and drop.

On my other machine which is Windows 8.1 the Humax and my other PC’s are all seen as servers or available for file play from wherever.

Do you have the custom firmware installed?
