In all the above test when plugging in the USB drive into the Humax on screen it says something to the effect that it cannot use the USB drive that I have plugged in and that I should format it to FAT32 or EXT3. That is what I have done!
What type of partition table is it using? I would be rather surprised if the FOXSAT could use a GPT partition style disk which I thought was used on disks larger than 2TB.

NO RESPONSE TO MY QUESTION AFTER 10 WEEKS?
What a great help this forum is.
Pathetic!
You posted in a year old thread in the wrong section of the forum and are the surprised about the lack of response?

Does any one know whether I can extract the recorded files unencrypted to an external hard drive or not?
I think you can use Foxy to fool the Humax into thinking it is permissible to decrypt the recording and then put the recording back on the Humax and decrypt it by copying to USB.

+ I use the dlna server in the pvr to view recorded programmes on my main smart tv across the network. This works great for SD but programmes recorded in HD are not visible to play.I know some dlna server are not HD compatible. Does the dlna server support HD or is this my client. I have tried several clients? What is the HD recorded format?
If it is like the HDR-FOX t2 then HD content is protected by the DCTP-IP protocol. Does the smart TV support DCTP-IP?
+ Since I could not see it in dlna server, I wanted to try and copy the HD programme across to my NAS using ftp. I switched it on in the menu and was able to see it is responding to ftp commands. However I cannot access the ftp directories using anonymous access. All the manual says is switch it on and access via ip address. Suspect anon access is not what is required here and there is a fixed userid/password that must be used. Tried admin(all combos)with my 4 digit pin. What is the user id/password and what additional settings are required for ftp(active/passive)?
If like the HDR-FOX T2 then user humaxftp password 4 digit pin default 0000. However be aware that the recordings will be encrypted.

It is a DVR-9200T Duovision (which I know is now discontinued).
If I do get the Record menu up and reformat the HDD will that keep it going or do you think it is on its way out regardless?
Always hard to be certain but on the basis that it has been making noises I would say it is probably near the end of its life. The only way to be sure would be to connect the drive to a PC and run the free Seagate Seatools for DOS on it.
I noticed a “new” one on Ebay for £50 so if a new HDD is going to be more than that I might as well get a replacement for the whole box.
The problem is that the IDE drives used in the 9200T have not been manufactured for about three years. I have in the past purchased second hand drives on Ebay that have been fine but it is a risk. If you want to have a punt then this Link to Ebay should take you to the correct type of drive.

I turned it off and left it overnight and it seemed much happier in the morning. But today, when I have a bit of time I was going to reformat the HDD just to see if that helped but I have now lost the Record option on the menu.
All the symptoms you have quoted suggest that hard drive is either failing or has now failed. It isn’t very difficult to replace it with a new one of the correct type. Which model of Humax do you own?

I’ve just bought an HDR 2000T and want to copy onto it some films saved on my old PVR.
Given that as Luke says, you can’t do what you want, perhaps you could tell us the make and model of the old PVR in case there is a known way of doing it digitally.

I’m hoping someone can help. PVR9150T. The pause and rewind facility no longer works for live TV.
This is a known problem. The buffer used for time shifting has become corrupt. Either you can format the disk from the HDD Control menu (which will of course delete all recorded programs) or if you are prepared to open up the Humax and attach the drive to a PC then you can use humaxrw with the -D option to delete the time shift buffer; a new one will be created when the Humax boots up.

BUT I’ve read of some people who’ve had to send their box off to Humax to be re-flashed! …all for a bit better YouTube; only not in their case.
The only cases I can recollect are people who attempted to downgrade from 1.03.06 before it was known that the tuner hardware had changed. If you don’t wish to upgrade that is fine but please don’t try and create a myth that there is a risk involved.

Many thanks, Andy, for the suggestion but why would I want to risk 400+ GB of recordings or my wife’s sanity by changing to any of these later versions?
The risk in upgrading to 1.02.32 is tiny but I agree the advantages are not enormous. Our box has run 1.02.32 since it was available without problem.

As for the Broadband provider, why would that make a difference? Are there clashes with certain provders?
No it should work with any provider but there is something odd about your setup and just trying to understand the detail to try and find a fix.

Thanks for this. The Belkin Router is a G Wireless Router model F5D7234-4 v3.
So who is your broadband provider?
the Secondary DNS was 4 0’s.
It should work fine without secondary DNS (which is only a backup).

I was looking at a 3TB Toshiba USB 3/USB 2 STOR.E CANVIO external hard drive while you posted that.
Would I be able to format that to ext3?
I see on this forum there is information how to format hard disks but does that mean I can do the ext3 conversion on say the 3TB Toshiba USB 3/USB 2 STOR.E CANVIO?
I would worry about a 3TB drive. As far as I know 3TB drives can’t use a conventional partition table and I doubt that the Linux kernel in the FOXSAT will understand the new GPT partition style. I would stick to a 2TB drive.
