My TV cannot receive a signal when the Humax HDR Fox T2 is switched off.
You need to change the setting Power saving in standby from on to off.
Only when the Humax is operating can I receive pictures but even then we tend to use channels in the 800 range as picture quality for stations such as ITV and BBC suffer from bad pixilation when on channel 1, 2, 3 etc.
This suggests the box is not tuned correctly and as well as poor picture you may also experience problems with accurate recording features. There are two options: either manually tune using the instructions at Manual tuning FAQ or if the software version used by the box is earlier than 1.02.32 then update it using the download from Link to Humax download site which greatly improves tuning performance.

I’ve seen in many places the warning “DO NOT let windows initialise the disk”
I’ll be using windows 7 32 bit – does this warning refer to where you can manually initialise a disk in the disk management console so therefore DON’T manually do that?
Does initialising start if you only open the disk management console so therefore DON’T even open the disk management utility<
I think that is the case and I think (can’t be certain) it will prompt anyway.
I only want to copy recordings off so does it matter if i use humaxrw or readhummyfiles?
I would suggest humaxrw because it will definitely work with both the 9200 and 9150.
Actually i might want to format/disk check the hard drive before popping it back in the hummy – can i just use windows format and disk check and then format it via the humax interface once it’s back in the machine – is this ok or worth bothering with?
Yes that would be worth doing. The thing to check after doing a Windows format is whether any bad blocks are reported. If they are then the disk is probably end of life for a 9200/9150 as the file system has no mechanism to cope with bad blocks. If you want to go the whole hog you could run the disk manufacturers diagnostics and see what they say. I have used Seagate Seatools for DOS (bootable CD) for checking various 9200 disks.

ParticipantBarry thanks. What about the earlier Humax boxes? What partition type is the external drive using (GPT or MBR)?

I have just replaced one 9300T with another 9300T as the old one lost the facility to pause and rewind LIVE programmes. Is there any way that I can transfer recorded programmes from the old machine to the new one?
You can get the programs off the old 9300T by opening the Humax and connecting the drive to a PC and using humaxrw to copy them to the PC. There is currently no way to put the programs on the new 9300T. Whilst you are about it you can fix the problem with pausing live TV by using the -D option of humaxrw to delete the corrupt live TV buffer.

ParticipantBut in this thread Barry reports using a 3TB drive with a HD-1000S so not sure what Humax boxes will support 3TB drives.

Ok the aerial didn’t make a difference, so we’ve now just connected the aerial to the tv. Is it possible to retrieve recordings by connecting the hard drive to a computer? Or is that a waste of time?
So have you tried booting the Humax with the connections to the hard drive removed? Yes you can retrieve the recordings if you wish by connecting the drive to a PC and using humaxrw.

Software version HPTTFI.00.26
Version 1.00.26 is the latest so nothing to be gained by updating.

Have you any view about my other question about updating software?
What software version is the box currently running (press Menu then select System then Status)?

I try to access Menu thro remote and nothing happens. I think it’s remote battery failure so change and still nothing.
i don’t think you have any option but to turn off the mains and see if the box recovers when the power is restored.

A3. Used both, currently on long term test with powered 3 TB HDD, but when testing USB powered drive(s) no issues detected.
Barry
Do you know which boxes in the Humax range work with a 3TB drive as it seems to be an increasingly common user requirement?

unit does not record every recording schedule.I have made room on the hard drive by deleting old recordings(now only approx. 4 hours)I am confident there was no overlap. Any suggestions
What software version? Is there a pattern to the failed recordings? There is a known problem with version 1.00.26 and consecutive recordings from the same channel. Is the box correctly tuned to a set of multiplexes from the same transmitter (channels above 800 would indicate that it might not be properly tuned)?

Had the PVR9300T for a couple of years. Recently, it has started to freeze up when fast-forwarding or rewinding recordings and live tv. It did this yesterday and would not respond to the remote control for several minutes, so I disconnected the box. On reconnecting, the box starts to load (version a4.39) but cannot get past the loading screen and connect to the tv. The screen goes blank, then the box tries to reload a few minutes later and fails.
There are two different problems that can give rise to symptoms similar to yours. First thing to try is to turn the Humax off, remove the aerial and see if it will now boot. If it does then do a reset to default settings and then reconnect the aerial boot up again and do another reset to default settings. If that doesn’t work and the box is out of warranty then disconnect the main leads, open the box and disconnect the lead to the hard drive. Put the lid back on and power the box up. If it will now work as a set top box without recording functionality then try formatting the disk by attaching it to a PC.

For anyone to defend ignoring someones problem for ten weeks defies belief.
The only explanation is that there is no known fix so where does that leave me?
I don’t own a 1000S so couldn’t offer useful information. By not posting in the 1000S section of the Forum I guess a lot of the 1000S owners missed your post.

I want to connect a HD to my humax box through the USB connection on front which I have done but it won’t allow me to copy from the humax to the external HD as it says not NTFS??? have tried 2 different external drives?
What is the capacity of the drives you have tried?

Martin,
My current test (the third one) looking in Disk Management says Volumes/Disk5/Basic/Online/Master Boot Record (MBR) /capacity 2861587MB/unallocated space 1805001MB
Well according to Link to Wikipedia the maximum size of an MBR partition table is 2TB. Sorry you have reached the limit of my knowledge.
