The format is now underway, I assume I just replace the disk and turn on with all cables attached, eg TV and Ariel.
Yes.
Is there anything I should look for during the 9200T format, or do I need to initiate it?
The Humax will detect the unformatted disk when it boots up and offer to format it.

I did read on one site that you had to manually return and delete again five times for it to become effective. I haven’t done that, but I have gone to standby snd back every time I’ve tuned it by hand.
Neither of those things are necessary as far as I know.
Went through the channels for Blackhill one by one snd only got BBC, went through Craigkelly one by one and got ITV and all the shopping type channels, but no Bbc.
Stv from Craigkelly is still broken up, bbc from blackhill is crystal clear. Don’t understand why the Itv channels don’t come through as strong from blackhill?
Signal strength on the itv channels is under 60%, quality bouncing from 10 – 80%.
So is your aerial pointing at Blackhill or Craigkelly? Is the aerial horizontally or vertically aligned? Have you checked the aerial cable for water ingress after the recent bad weather? Can your neighbours get satisfactory reception?

My 9150 has never been particularly good at tung in, once we found it was a cheap DVD player interfering, but at the moment I cannot get ITV channels in any sort of quality.
Are you using the Biggles instructions on manual tuning Link to Biggles instructions?

I have tried downloading the Humax media Centre GUI to connect to the 9200T via COM1 on the PC and the COM on the back of the Humax,
If you want to update the software then the easiest route (in my rather biased opinion) is flash9200 see Link to flash9200 but unless the software version is not 1.00.23 I wouldn’t bother.
So I assume a hard disk format is required. I still have a PC with Windows XP (32bit) on, as well as windows 7 (64bit) So assuming the XP is better, should I also assume I format without system os.
It makes no odds whether you use XP or 7; ideally you want to do a full format (not a quick format); it doesn’t matter whether you use FAT32 or NTFS. When you put the drive back in the Humax it will format it again in the Humax format.

ParticipantGibbyS – 1 hour ago » Next part of this post is I cannot get the previously used hard drives to do anything in my PC at all. I had expected to be able to re-format them and then run a check disk to reveal and block bad sectors.
What happens when you try to format them?
Q.2 Does anyone have any info on what the Humax actually does to hard drives from a formatting point of view ?
What exactly do you want to know? The 9300 uses a Humax proprietary file system but it should be perfectly feasible to overwrite it with any standard PC file system.

All channels have %100 strength and %40 quality I thinks that’s the right way round.
No that is probably the wrong way round. 100% quality is almost essential for satisfactory viewing. I would regard 40% as an acceptable signal strength but without much margin of safety.

just bought the 2000t installed ok channel scan ok
after a week i found picture break up on the standard def channels only.
hd channels are fine.
appears to be very low signal strength i have re-tuned and manual tuned the unit as well.
is there anything else i can do is the unit faulty??
tv signal is fine at 100%
So what are the signal strengths on the problem channels and on HD?

Sorry for the late getting back to you but I tried wht you suggested but the lptop does not appear in the server list. Nothing appears there, it is just as if the unit has crashed.
Are you using the standard Windows firewall or a third party product. If you temporarily disable the firewall is the laptop visible by the Humax?

You can’t record the on demand content (drm restrictions I would imagine). You can download iplayer content using a PC (getiplayer or Web PVR manager which is a gui for getiplayer).
Also the custom firmware for the Freeview Humax HDR-FOX T2 allows iPlayer content to be saved.

The Humax connects wirelessly to my router and I can view all ‘On Demand’ channels perfectly, but ‘Media Share’ is not picking up either my PC or my Galaxy (both have file sharing switched on).
It isn’t file sharing that matters on the PC it is Media sharing; is that on?

My Humax box is only partially loading channels and most annoyingly not loading any BBC channels.
I have carried out a reset to default settings both with aerial in and not in. We have reloaded the channels several times. What else can we do?
I would suggest a manual tune see Link to Biggles Manual Tuning FAQ

I have transferred a bunch of programs to my PC using Media Elinker. However, when I transfer them to an SD card either as a .TS file or by using Handbrake to convert them to .mp4 they are not displaying in full screen mode on playback from USB slot on TV.
Have you tried playing them on the PC?

I keep getting’ Hard Disk Error’on trying to playback some recordings.Sometimes by starting again i get my recording, other times it is lost. Is my hard drive wearing out?
Yes probably. You might be able to improve things by taking the hard drive out of the Humax and formatting it in a PC (do a Full format not a quick format); then run chkdsk and see if there are any bad blocks reported. If there are not then the disk should be OK for a while (hard to say how long). IF there are or you don’t want the hassle then fit a new drive which is straight forward.
