ParticipantWhich transmitter do you receive from? Press Menu then select Settings>System>Signal detection. Press right arrow (to right of OK); tell us the list of multiplex channel numbers displayed.

it’s the T2 operating system which does not support them.
It is not the operating system it is the hardware; PVRs have much less powerful CPUs than PCs and so the CODECs for play back must be implemented in hardware. If the hardware doesn’t support the required format then that is the end of the road.

Similarly, programes recorded in 1080p sometimes show as 1080i when played back, or at least when I’ve pressed the “i” button this is what appears to be happening.
You can’t control the format that programs are recorded in; what is broadcast is what will be recorded.

Specifically, does any device that is DNLA-enabled have the ability to be a server or a client?
No. You can have devices that are just clients, just servers or both.

Okay, we seem to have a weaker signal through the box than through our TV?
What is the signal strength and quality reported by the Humax (Press Menu then Settins>System>Signal detection ?

ParticipantJust installed our shiny new HDR-2000T without problems. Very similar in operation to an HDR-FOX T2 although the remote control buttons are rearranged; I do like the fact that the play and pause buttons which are separate on an HDR-FOX T2 have been combined into a single button. At the moment the HDR-2000T is connected to the aerial out of PVR-9200T. Signal strength levels for the two boxes are as follows:
Mux Channel HDR-2000 9200
BBC A 22 47% 72%
D3&4 25 52% 80%
L-GMB 27 25% –
BBC B 28 69% –
SDN 30 51% 75%
COM7 33 50% –
ARQ A 53 51% 79%
ARQ B 60 52% 80%
Signal quality is 100% in all cases except L-GMB (which is only a test transmission) and is quality 25%. So far all good. Any news on when the software update to give aerial pass through in standby will be available?

Is there any way of using an external 3TB drive with the HDR Fox T2? My drive does not seem to be recognised. I gather from searching that the reason is probably that the version of Linux used in the Fox does not understand GUID partition tables.
Barry has a 3TB drive; perhaps he can tell us if it works with the HDR-FOX T2?

I’ve had a Humax PVR 9150T for about 4 years, and I often hear it start up at 4am when I assumed it was doing its usual software updates. However, I’ve checked my box tonight (accessing the menues using the buttons on the front panel of the unit as my remote doesn’t work) and this is the information I discovered:
Software version: HPTTF 1.00.26
I’m quite shocked to see an update date of July 2011 and a software version of 1.00.26 because I regularly hear my box turning on for about 15 mins at 4am and now I’m wondering why,
Version 1.00.26 is the latest version; Humax have not released a software update recently. As you observe the box will wake up to check for an update but if there is none available it will then go back to sleep.
Plus, the remote control has definitely died. It’s not a battery problem – I checked – and I did use the advice about checking with a digital camera (no light showing from my Humax remote).
OK the remote has died; you could take it apart and clean it or buy a new one of the same type or a cheaper third party replacement.
I would have liked to have done a manual software update just to be sure there is no hitch with signals between the unit and remote, but, as many others on this thread have pointed out (and practically BEGGED someone to respond to them!) it’s not possible to enter the necessary 0000 code to access the installation menu to do a manual update, unless someone can explain if it’s possible to bypass the code?
You can do a manual software update without a remote by downloading the update to a PC and using the process described at Link to Flash9200 software update tool and instructions. Absolutely no need to enter anything with the remote. You will need a remote to do a reset to default settings (unless Barry has a better idea) which should improve the behaviour of your system.
Is there a definitive way to check that the problem does indeed lie with a faulty remote control, and if so can I be guaranteed that the Humax system will still work without hassles once a new remote control has been purchased and a manual software update has been achieved????
How can anybody who is unable to examine the hardware give a guarantee? If you want a guarantee then use a commercial repairer not a Forum. For what little it is worth, I think there is a very good chance that with a working remote, a reset to default settings and a format of the disk (after watching any important recordings) the box will be restored to good health; personally on the basis of your description I would not waste time doing a manual software update. At worst it may need a new hard drive.

I had to to fit an attenuator to my HDR FOX T2 to get reliable HD channel reception. The tuners in the newer boxes are likely to be of better quality simply down to progress.
Humax have always had quite sensitive tuners compared to other manufacturers which was very desirable prior to analogue switch off. I wonder if the new tuners are a bit less sensitive?

I’ve upgraded my 9150 to DVR2000 but want to keep my 9150 to watch old recordings. How do I link both so they both work? My new one has the aerial and is connected via hmdi to the tv and the old one to the tv by scart.
It should work; are you sure that the SCART cable is properly seated at each end?

Now running a disk check to see if it finds any bad sectors which may indicate why both these disks started to skip during playback (My original problem) !
You need to be aware that if there are any bad sectors then you will have problems with the Humax as the file system used by the 9150/9200/9300 do not have any capability to deal with bad blocks.

Participantukserendipity – 18 minutes ago »
I’m sure it’s not meant to do this!
Why do you say that? The Humax HD-FOX T2 has only a single tuner so when recording that tuner is in use and the only channels that you will be able to watch are ones from the same multiplex. To see which channels are on each multiplex see Link to DTG web site. The HDR-FOX T2 and the HDR-2000T both have twin tuners and so you can watch any channel whilst recording one channel; limitations apply when recording two channels.

Yes, definitely, I work in IT. Lol the drive came up in windows asa available. I didn’t do a quick format either. However it did show in disk manager as dynamic and not basic like c, drive. When. I booted the humax, it didn’t ask about formatting at all.
Something not right there. Try using a disk wiping utility such asActive @ Kill disk

Unfortunately, no joy! still the same issue when I boot up. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks Rowland
The disk is definitely the problem. Are you sure you did a full format on the PC ie it took tens of minutes to complete? Did the Humax offer to format the disk when replaced in the Humax?
