I recently bought an ex display PVR9300T from a John Lewis outlet store. The picture freezes every 10 seconds or so and then jumps on every channel. I have previously used a Goodmans PVR on the same aerial socket with no problems.

What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax?

It started when she went to play back previously recorded programmes and nothing was in the list, when there should have been about 20 hours worth of recordings. I have reset to factory default settings to no avail.

The file system is corrupt; you need to format the hard drive from the HDD control menu item in the Record Menu. If it happens again in the near future then the hard drive is probably nearing the end of its life.

We had a high-gain aerial erected on the chimneyabout 5 yrs ago with incoming cable to Humax then to Sony TV. Signal detection figures are 42 on Ch33, and 44 to 49 on the other channels. Advice very welcome!

The Humax reports signal strength and signal quality; are the figures you have labelled signal detection the signal strength? What is the signal quality on the channels with problems?

yes, 159.9 used and 30% free, so have I a 500gb drive or a 1TB drive, I just haven’t the knowledge to work it out.

    That sounds more like a 250GB drive; 250*70/100 = 175GB used.

So now I’m thinking I’ll have to use a splitter so it can be powered down, or just not use the TV’s tuner. :(

Yes those are the options. Barry has, I think, suggested that Humax may issue a software update at some point in the future to fix the problem.

since saturday, any recordings will play picture but no sound. anything recorded prior to saturday play without any problem. the pvr is connected with hdmi.

Thanks for the clarification; that is a very odd problem. Clutching at straws, have you tried the Soundtrack button on the remote (second from left on second row from top under the flap)? What happens if you connect by SCART rather than HDMI? Have you tried a reset to default settings?

hi all, my mother in laws pvr9300t has since saturday stopped playing sound on any recordings, pictures are fine, older recordings are fine also.

I am confused. You say it will not play sound on any recordings but then you say older recordings are fine; can you clarify? Is the 9300 connected to the TV by SCART or HDMI?

Its a DTR-T1000. Have tried re-tuning and it goes very quickly and finds nothing. When I say quick I mean probably 3 seconds. Can seem to get to manual tuning – how do you do that?

You can’t manually tune on DTR-T1000. Sorry I don’t own one and I have no more ideas. Hopefully someone who does have one will be able to make some suggestions.

The device I’ve ordered is this:

Interesting device; let us know how it works.

I don’t believe the Talk Talk version is made by Humax so no chance of any Humax updates for that box.

Talk Talk did initially supply Humax boxes but for some time they have been supplying Huawei boxes.

I’m having the same problem. i carry out the instructions in the internet settings and the messgae says that the wifi is connected (at 65Mps) and that i can now use the network but when i select Humax tv portal from the remote or in menu it gives me the same message as you have written above.

First try the basic step of putting the Humax into standby waiting for a minute and then bringing it out of standby and seeing if it now works. If not tell us what the IP address, DNS address and gateway address as reported by the Humax?

My aerial cable was going into the Humax box and the signal from there was going to the TV via a scart socket. I bought a new aerial and connected up. No joy. Then just to test the box I got another TV (from storage) which had a built in freeview facility. Plugged the aerial into the new TV and I have all the channels – remove and plug back into the back of the Humax – weak signal again!

What model Humax do you have? What is the signal strength and quality reported by the Humax? Have you tried doing an automatic channel scan? If you have and that didn’t help have you tried manual tuning?

The date is exactly the same on all Humax boxes from the very first single tuner pvr.

    Agreed.

The date is the date attached to the update file.

I think what is wrong is labelling it as “Update date”; it would be better described as “Release date” or similar. Indeed there might be an advantage in also recording the date that the update is applied so that users who notice a new problem can see if it corresponds to a new software version being installed.

Yes – both settings are OFF!

Have you checked that the Humax is only tuned to one transmitter (one symptom would be channels above 800)?

    Quote:
Basically ftp over to the humax box and take a copy of the hmt program file. On the pc drag the file into the foxy program window. The foxy programs changes a flag in the file. Then put the file back on the humax by ftp and the “Enc” icon shown next to the recording should no longer be present.

On the humax box then copy the program to usb which will decrypt it as it copies it.

Am I right in thinking if I copy HD recordings to a USB drive, using this procedure, I should then be able to watch the resulting files on my HB-1000S in HD?

Yes providing you follow the full procedure.
