Large hard discs supported is my guess at the new feature no-one has noticed. The current limits of 1TB and only MBR discs are going to be very tiresome soon, and Humax have to find discs to put into product as well as issues around external drives.
2TB would be trivial bigger than that is feasible but would need a rebuild of the Linux kernel used by the Humax.

It may be a clue to what the bug is in the software.
Exactly my thought; a big flashing arrow pointing out the problem.

Also i can see my Humax on my network but only as a media device, any way to access from my PC to look at the folder/files?
As I assume you know you can access content with a DLNA client on the PC eg Windows Media Player or VLC. The only way to access files is via the FTP server on the Humax. If it is ever possible to port the custom firmware from an FOX-HDR T2 to the HDR-2000T then all sorts of possibilities open up; SAMBA shares, NFS etc.

Also thank you Martin, again could you explain how I do this?
You need to install the Custom Firmware; your starting point is probably Link to hummy.tv Wiki. Once installed you need to run fix-disk; instructions are at Link to instructions on running fix-disk. You will probably need more help but it isn’t actually very difficult and it will preserve your recordings (as far as possible). Better the diagnostic capability built into the Custom Firmware will allow us to offer an opinion on the health of the hard drive. Best of all it costs nothing; just your time and effort in learning.
Sorry for asking so many questions
Forums wouldn’t exist if people didn’t ask questions.

ParticipantThe alternative to what Barry has suggested is to install the Custom Firmware which includes a very effective tool for fixing hard drive issues such as this called fix-disk.

Have seen that Seagate ACE type drives are recommended replacements but not easy to find. Does anyone know if Maxtor Diamond Max 10 IDE drives which run at 7200 rpm, SAY 250GB – 320GB are suitable in a 9200T.
People have in the past reported using various drives with success and others are known not to work (Western Digital AV drives for instance). I think your chances of finding anyone who has used a Maxtor are slim; if you have one to hand then try it.

Can’t confirm when it will be fixed, but Humax Towers are certainly aware.
Barry
Someone over on AVForum has quoted a response from Humax that the design intent was never to have aerial loopthrough in standby and it will not be fixed. Can you confirm if this is correct?

The attenuator arrived from Amazon this morning and we have perfect pictures on all channels.
So as a matter of interest what are the signal strength figures now?

tried this martin and no go
What EXACTLY did you try? It will work if done correctly.

For a return – faulty.
Have you had the custom firmware installed? If so it would be better to follow the documented procedure for removing it. Just installing 1.03.06 over the top will leave traces.

I need to reinstall 1.03.06 on my box (what it came with).
Why do you need to reinstall?

my pc also has a network card installed as it used to be near my router and connected with ethernet cable.
OK then assuming you are running Windows then you can enable Internet Connection Sharing and connect the Humax to the network port on the PC.

why does it have to go throught the router first. why cant it be plugged straight to my pc via ethernet.
What exactly do you want to be able to do?

The box is tuned to the Mendip transmitter as recommended on the digitaluk website. This predicts Good coverage. Mendip is about 15-20 miles away as the crow flies.
OK the signal strength sounds reasonable then. I suggest carefully checking the cabling for any badly made joints or kinks (the Humax is more sensitive to these than other boxes for some reason I don’t understand) or for potential sources of interference. If you can’t find anything, then unless anybody else has a better idea, I would send it back as faulty.

I’ve checked the signal strength and quality on a couple of the main channels.
Channel 49 has a consistent Signal Strength of 75 but the Quality alternates every few seconds between 50 and 100 (a few instances of 40.
Channel 44 has a consistent Signal Strength of 74 but the Quality alternates every few seconds between 50 and 100 (a few instances of 40.
Could this be the problem and if so would an aerial amplifier help?
75% signal strength should be more than adequate and I would expect adding amplification would make things worse. The quality should be steady at 100%. What transmitter is the box tuned to and how far from the transmitter are you?
