ParticipantBarry there are reports that the 1.03.xx firmware will format drives bigger than 1TB; do you know if this is correct? Are there any plans to provide a similar version for the HD-FOX T2?

Do you have a guide on how to idle or change the fan and which fan should I use as a replacement?
Sorry I don’t have any information; I am a bit deaf so these sort of noises don’t bother me. I suggest doing some googling as various people have done it but all the reports I can vaguely recollect are from a long time ago.

Obviously I do not want to switch the machine off at the wall as then it means I have to remember to switch it on to record a programe.
What can be done to cancel this noise?
How old is the 9200? The early ones had a fan that ran continuously; you could disconnect the fan or replace it with a quieter type. Alternatively it could be the hard drive you are hearing. It shouldn’t run during standby (except in the 15 minutes before a recording starts and during the recording). If it is the hard drive then try a reset to default settings (which will delete your schedule of future recordings but will leave existing recordings on the hard drive).

Thanks Martin. Seems to be working now
The important bit is turning the power off. The theory is that the box gets confused about its encryption keys and just putting the box into standby doesn’t fix it. If it only happens once or twice a year it is nothing to worry about.

This just happened to mine. I have tried turning it on and off again but all my recordings are saying channel scrambled….
I suggest putting the box into standby, waiting until the hard drive stops spinning (which takes quite a while) and then turning off the power supply to the box, wait two minutes and then turn it on again.

how many times do we buy an item just before the company announces an upgraded version?
As I read Barry’s post they haven’t announced an upgraded version. They are considering whether it is feasible to do something either as a software update that would add the functionality to existing kit or as a hardware fix for future production. We shall see.

With the ethernet cable connected to the router and Humax box, if I go to menu> system> internet settings> configure LAN, the IP address is correct, I click apply and it tells me it is connected. However, when I click TV Portal, I get the message “Humax STB only”
I don’t think you are doing anything obviously wrong. First thing to try is the old favourite of turning the Humax off, waiting until the hard drive has stopped spinning (which will take a while) and then removing the mains plug. Leave it for 5 minutes without power and then switch it on and see if it now works. If not tell us what values are displayed on the Humax for IP address, gateway and DNS. Also what make and model of router.

but reading about this more it looks like it’s out of the hands of the manufacturers and is more about government legislation so I won’t hold my breath.
What have you read that leads you to that conclusion? The HDR-FOX T2 streams HD content perfectly happily to another HD or HDR box. It is protected by DTCP-IP presumably to try and enforce it only being viewed rather than recorded without encryption.

Hello. I’ve been using my new HDR-2000T for a week now and absolutely love it. I want to buy a second one for another part of the house but I’ve read conflicting reports about whether one HDR-2000T can play HD recordings steamed across a local network from another separate HDR-2000T.
Tell the retailer you are buying from that this is essential functionality for your purpose. If it works great; if it doesn’t then reject the box as not fit for purpose. In either case come back and tell us whether or not it works. If it doesn’t work now then that is a serious bug and I assume Humax will fix it (but Humax have been so erratic on software updates in recent times that I wouldn’t rely on it absolutely).

Can someone confirm this is the case and is it just the once a night check as didn’t really want the HD running at all unless I am using it?
Correct.

I think the point Chris is making is that you only fix ‘problems’
I am sorry but I make my living writing software and in my world (which may well be a different one to everybody else), I fix things that don’t work as well as they could. 2TB would fit perfectly into this category. Anyway it is semantics and I don’t think it will be what Barry has hinted at. Do the IPTV channels works at 1.03.06?

tried to flash the firmware but because I am locked out of ‘Installation’ and ‘Storage’ I cannot get this to run (yes I did unzip the file).
How did you try to do this? There is no need to get into any menu. You put the box in standby wait until the hard drive has stopped spinning, plug in the USB stick and bring the box out of standby.
I am still not sure if I should be chasing a fault in the operating system or on the HDD or a damaged HDD .
The problem is very well understood. The file that keeps track of the files to be deleted has become confused; it is not a fault in the operating system.
Personally I think the best fix these days is to install the custom firmware and use fix-disk which will fix the delete loop problem but will also check the integrity of the file system and correct it if necessary. The hard disk diagnostics will then allow a judgement to be made on the health of the hard drive.

Hi, I am mystified. I have a 1TB foxsat recorder which has been working fine. This evening my husband leant on the remote control, and must have activated some button as a message came up on the screen, I can’t remember what it said, I just cancelled it, and when we went to the media screen, the HDD was empty!
I don’t have a FOXSAT and hopefully a FOXSAT expert will be along before long. On other Humax boxes you can switch between different media lists eg on the 9200 between TV and radio recordings, on the HDR-FOX T2 between TV and music. My best guess would be something similar has happened on your FOXSAT. Consulting the manual may find the answer.

I am having exactly the same problem, I have moved the dongle to the front, the tv is in the same room as the router. The internet connection tells me it is connected at 65 Mps, but when I go to the portal I get the message ‘cannot connect to the internet check your connection’. Did anyone manage to resolve this?
Lots of people have these boxes connected successfully. Start by telling us the information requested in the post above yours.

It also wouldn’t technically be a fix, as it wasn’t broken.
It would be a fix as there is no support on the Humax (at least up to 1.02.32) for formatting drives bigger than 1TB (yes I know it can be done on a PC or using the custom firmware).
