does this mean I have definitely lost all of the programs recorded, are there any other options?
Hard to say without knowing what has happened. How old is the Humax? If less than two years then it is worth talking to Humax. If you feel inclined to open the Humax, you can check that the cables are properly attached to the hard drive at both ends. If the drive has died, then unless you want to use a data recovery company at substantial expense, then I would guess the programs are indeed lost.

Yes, games does appear in the menu, should I access it to see what happens?
You will get to a game; no point. You appear to have a problem with the hard drive. They are not difficult to replace; you want an AV drive eg Link to eBuyer

Cannot access list to view recorded programs, it will not accept the “okay” command.
It will not rewind, fast forward, record etc.
If you press the Menu button is there a Games menu item visible? My first guess would be that the hard drive has died or become disconnected.

When playing back previous recordings,e.g. Media>desired recording>play from start or resume play>OK when I press OK my TV screen goes black for 5 seconds, then recording picture plays but there is no sound for 10-15 seconds it then plays back normally. It doesn’t appear to be any particular channel, program or time of day.
Not sure about that one; we don’t see that behaviour.
Also some channels have a very weak signal and poor quality and picture breaks up but on another TV they are good. I have tried swapping the antenna over to the sets but the result is the same.
Humax made significant improvements to the tuning performance for the HDR-FOX T2 in 1.02.32 but it doesn’t work as well for us in 1.03.12 nor on the HDR-2000T. The solution until it is fixed is to do a manual tune using the instructions at Manual tuning FAQ.

AI have been having intermittent faults with my HDR FOX T2 and as I had heard about a Firmware update yesterday I have waited to see if faults have been fixed.
Perhaps you would care to describe the probelms you have been experiencing.
How do I check what version I am using?
Menu button the select Settings>System>System Information

If I do a factory reset will a lose my recordings or anything else?
Your existing recordings will remain but the schedule of future recordings and any settings you have changed from the defaults will be lost.

I know there is a Format command on the menu but, as I understand it, this is the equivalent of a “quick format”. Can I put the HDD in an external caddy and format it in windows, and if so, is it FAT32 or NTFS?
The 9200 uses a proprietary format which is neither FAT32 nor NTFS. However I agree that doing a full format is a good idea to try and map out bad blocks and replace them with spare sectors. I suggest formatting it as FAT32. Then run chkdsk. If there are any bad blocks reported then the drive has exhasuted its supply of spare sectors and is end of life. The problem then is finding a suitable replacement. If the drive is OK then just replace it in the Humax which will offer to format it for you which will only take a few seconds.

Barry do we know whether this is being extended to the HD only model or have they scrapped support on that.
See posts #2 and #3 in this thread.

No it was in standby.
OK in that case I have no idea why it didn’t update.
Anyway as I said, I did an automatic search about 9am this morning and it downloaded and updated fine. Hopefully the version with the custom firmware should be available in the next day or so.
Did the time to download the update match Barry’s 32 minutes?

Strangely mine didn’t update overnight but remained on 1.03.06 this morning.
Was it in standby overnight or left active?
I leave the box in standby.
If you look at the quoting I was replying to dcoppard. I understand your confusion about the update process. OTA updates have become pretty rare so we all need to remind ourselves how they work.

So are you saying that it had already updated on it’s own overnight because I was in standby.
Correct (well actually it doesn’t matter if you are in standby but it does matter that the box must be in standby).

I don’t know if my box is different to yours but I sat watching ‘Searching for software’ on screen for several minutes, then software found press OK and it went straight back to live TV. Is this right? seems strange to me.
So what does it say when you press Menu>Settings>System>System Information ? What you describe is exactly what I would expect if the box had updated overnight (as ours did).

When I connect it to the 9300 & add the male/female lead I get tv pictures only when the 9300 is switched on.
When you say switched on do you mean “electrical power applied” or do you mean “active” (rather than in standby)?
