I’ve searched on this site but I must have missed the steps and software I need restore the operating system via the XP IDE bus.
You can’t restore the software via an IDE connection as the software lives in flash RAM on the main board. All this sounds rather familiar; have I answered your question via email?

I went into the Web-if and selected the ‘Remove all custom fimware packages” option.
Which is the wrong thing to do. You should have used the option below it “Set Return-to-manufacturer (RMA) mode”.

I’ve removed the custom firmware from my HDR Fox T2 because I need to send it back to Humax as it suddenly stopped receiving a signal.
How did you remove it? Have you completed the process by installing the standard firmware?

I’m interested in getting the HDR 2000T to replace me SKY TV subscription when it expires. I’m not bother about the media play back options as I several devices that do that I interested in the ability to play recorded TV of the box on other compatible devices. I have a QNAP TS-212 NAS with Twonkymedia that I store my media and a couple of WDLive TV boxes in different rooms can I use these to playback the recorded TV in different locations. Or failing that can I use the QNAP and a Android Tablet.
It would be awkward to get recordings from the HDR-2000T on to the QNAP. However the HDR-2000 has its own DLNA server so you should be able to play SD recordings to any device with a DLNA client functionality directly. The alternative would be to get the earlier HDR-FOX T2 and install the custom firmware which would open up a whole range of possibilities.

4) I have now come to “Put” the ts files back on the formatted disc, but I am getting the following messages:
“Record list is empty” WARNING this may corrupt your Humax hard disk – do you wish to continue ?[no]:
I would have answered yes. Given that the drive is newly formatted you have very little to lose. You could try making a single recording on the Humax after formatting so that the list isn’t empty but I would expet the restore to work either way.

In order to copy to my PC I need to use the get command do I use an * in the command to get all files or is that only applicable to the put command. My list shows Item 1: ***Buffer*** Item 20 ***Unknown*** Item 21 ***Buffer*** when I do the get command to copy to my
drive do I omit these.Which of these is the correct syntax
humaxrw 1: -r -g 1-33
OR humaxrw 1: -r -g *.ts
OR humaxrw 1: -r -g 2-19, 22-33
I would use the the last option you have shown. The timeshift buffers are unlikely to hold anything of interest,

Hi thanks guysI’ve managed to get the drive recognised see a listing of recordings.
For the benefit of anyone reading this thread in the future, can you say what you did to get the drive recognised?
What happens there’s not enough space on my
driveI would expect the transfer will stop.

I know about the encrypted recordings but as far as I can see that is HD recordings I am going for SD recordings for back up purposes.?
You can back up SD recordings and put them back on the Humax to play them but unless they are copied to USB storage they will remain encrypted.
From what I have read you can tranfers SD recordings over your home network ?
You can transfer them yes but not play them unless decrypted. Can you give a link to what you have read?

I am not using a USB to IDE adapter I’m connecting directly to an IDE ribbon socket in my pc.
Over the years I have seen various configurations of IDE cables in PCs. If it isn’t working try a different jumper setting on the hard drive.
In the instruction sheet with Humaxrw, it states do NOT let the pc initialise the disc in device manager.
You don’t need to do anything other than answer no if the computer offers to initialise the drive.
do you think I need to run Humaxcheck -p
No. Tells us more about the computer. How many hard drives, CD/DVD drives, USB card readers etc does it have?

Hi
According to the manual you can transfer files from the Humax HDR 2000T over your home network. As I have never done this before I would appreciate if someone could put up some pointers. ?
I did a bit of research and found that (FileZilla) was rated as a good choice however when I visited the site there were a lot of negative reviews regarding (Filezilla being loaded with malware, addware) so this made me unsure of it.
Providing you download FileZilla from the official site Filezilla web site I have never seen any malware or addware. However what are you hoping to do with the files? You do realise that recordings will be encrypted unless you copy to USB storage (and in the case of HD recordings use Foxy)?

Do you know if i need to move the jumper on the humax disc. ?
It may differ depending on the USB to IDE adapter but my recollection is of setting the jumper on the drive to Master.

Were’s and whats the DHCP page?
It will be part of the router web interface. As you haven’t told us the make and model of router I can’t be more specific.
If I need to install the interface how is that done?
You click on the big button labelled something like “Ibstall the full web interface”; it will take a few minutes.
What firmware version do you recommend, latest?
You haven’t told us whether this an HDR with the original or revised tuner arrangement. 1.03.12 would be a safe choice as it was distributed OTA,

Any chance you could give me some guidance with the procedure??
Plug a network cable between the router and the Humax. Look at the router DHCP page to work out what address it has allocated to the Humax. Point your browser at that IP address. You may need to install the full web interface for the custom software and then under diagnostics click on “Set Return to Manufacturer (RMA) mode”. Then download an install a standard firmware version. Job done.
Do I need to run it to a TV aswell?
No.

How can I revert the custom firmware back to standard without the network connection?
You will need to move the Humax so that you can temporarily connect it to your router or (with more fiddling about) use a crossover cable from a computer.
