I bought a HDR 2000T 2 weeks ago. I find that I am unable to switch the TV on whilst a programme is recording.
This sounds like an HDMI handshake problem between the HDR-2000T and the TV. Start by telling us the make and model of TV?

ParticipantJust to add to what Barry has said someone over at hummy.tv recently reported that some 4TB USB drives will work. Usually the limit for an MBR formatted drive is 2TB (with 512 byte sectors) but the USB interface presents the drive as having 4kB sectors to the Humax which raises the maximum size limit to 16TB.

Hard drive broken or may be simply disconnected. Take it back for a new box.

thank you tried to upload the file but kept getting errors possibly as I was usuing a convertor.
Thousands and thousands of boxes have been updated using a USB to serial converter; what errors did you get?
I have opened the box and managed to boot up the device without whilst diconnecting the hard drive.
That sounds promising.
how do I connect the hard drive to the laptop to use the disk wiping utility?
You need a USB to SATA converter such as Link to eBay

But are the channel (ITV) and content provider (ITV Player) not the same on the different platforms, or am I understanding this wrong?
I think the content provider will be the owner of the distribution rights not ITV Player. However I agree that it is odd that only one episode of Prey should be available.

This morning, after investigating some entries on this forum that suggested it might be stuck in a ‘delete loop’ (although I have no ‘deleting’ message displayed anywhere; I tried installing custom firmware 1.01.09, but the box would not accept the file upon starting. Therefore, I am currently out of ideas on how to get my drive back.
There is no custom firmware 1.01.09; did you try to install standard version 1.01.09? If you have no on screen delete message then I doubt the problem is the delete loop; more likely the file system has gone read only or possibly the hard drive has died. I would suggest installing custom firmware 1.03.12 from Link to custom firmware download. You need to unzip it and place it in the root directory of the USB memory stick (not in a folder). If that installs OK then connect the Humax to your router and follow the fix-disk procedure at Link to hummy.tv wiki

My PVR-9300T crashed yesterday so I rebooted the box. It now loads to 98% and then stops and tries again. I have tried switching off and removing the ariel and that didn’t work.
For the sake of clarity, you need to boot the box with the aerial out. If that and Barry’s remedies don’t work then try opening the box and disconnecting the hard drive. If it will boot with no hard drive then connect the hard drive to a PC and wipe the disk with a disk wiping utility.

is there an easy way, without going into the list of recorded programmes, to see which channels are being recorded at any moment?
I am currently rather a long way from our HDR2000T but I would expect the HDR-FOX T2 trick of pressing the i button to work.
is it simply a matter of making sure she presses the “Stop” button
Yes.

I bought the device knowing that it wont boot. It just displays the model id on the front when plugged in.
Try opening the box and disconnecting the hard drive. If it boots properly with no hard drive then wiping the drive in a PC and allowing the 9300 to reformat it will probably fix the problem.
Can I just reflash the device, and this will fix the problem?, or is there more to this than I expected?.
Reflashing the firmware is unlikely to help; what makes you think it will?
Ive a USB RS232 adaptor so I can only assume this is ok.
when connected to the RS232 port, will it recognise that this is connected or is there special software for the firmware upgrade?
See Link to flash9200 for a description of the process and the required software.

But you can copy them over after they have been recorded onto the internal HDD.
With the the proviso that SD recordings will be decrypted by copying but HD recordings will remain encrypted and only playable on the HDR-FOX T2 that made the recording.

Essentially, the manual re-tune doesn’t appear to have cured the problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I haven’t tried a re-format, but this doesn’t seem to be mentioned as a possible cure.
A format will not help so don’t go there. Change channel (on the Humax) to BBC1 and then press the Menu button and select System>Signal detection and tell us what multiplex channel is reported. Repeat for ITV1, ITV3, Pick, 4Music then post the results here.

The hard drive was too hot to comfortable handle when I got it out of the case (a good 5 minutes after it being powered off).
This is a good 2+ years old, am I best looking at getting a new device?
The best thing to do is to install the custom firmware for the Humax which will allow you to look at the operational statistics for the drive (SMART data) which is the best way to judge its health. The custom firmware will also allow you to monitor temperature and if necessary to take control of the fan if more cooling is required. As an example our Humax sits in a cupboard and I run the fan a bit faster than standard to keep temperatures down.

3, when I try to delete an entire series of program’s rather than one program the box crashes and switches off. Have I got a faulty box that needs replacement?
How many programs in the series are you trying to delete at once?

I am having similar problems with trying to replace my hard disc in my 9200T, and have returned one faulty disc already. I understand that the original Seagate 160Gb disc is no longer made, and so I’m checking out the Seagate Barracuda 500Gb drives with a SATA/IDE converter. Still waiting for someone to confirm that this is a viable option.
I can’t confirm it will work as I haven’t tested the combination. Certainly some IDE drives and some IDE to SATA combinations do work but what I did in that area is sufficiently long ago to be of little relevance. If you want to look see my post #34 in this DigitalSpy thread Link to DigitalSpy.

Yes I’ve got connected via the web browser, I can access all the content on the hard drive. Cannot find any options that would download the web interface (or access the diagnostics menu).
Can you explain in detail what you mean when you say “I’ve got connected via the web browser”?
