When I attempt to rewind TV, on most occasions the picture freezes and the only way to unfreeze it is to change to a different channel then return to the original one, which then plays normally again.
I would guess that one of the buffers used for holding the data to allow pause and rewind has become corrupted. The easiest fix is to watch any important recordings and then format the disk from the HDD Control menuitem in the Record Menu.

This time I have no options available to reformat or access to the hard drive from any menu.
All the other functions seem to operate okay, except recording/playing, so am I correct in thinking that installing a replacement HDD should make my 9300T Humm again? (I will check the cable/connectors on the way just in case).
I think it is very likely that changing the drive will fix the problem. I take it you have tried turning off the power at the mains and leaving the Humax without power for a few minutes?

However, I see that on the 2000T to access any network feature – including iPlayer – one has to sign up for a Humax account and in doing so agree that Humax can monitor all your activity: what you watch, what you record etc.
I don’t believe that you have to sign up for a Humax account to access services such as iPlayerand indeed currently you derive no benefit from such an account.

Mind you, I didn’t notice any acknowledgement from Humax that they’d taken on board some of the suggestions.
There was a limited amount of engagement from Humax a few years ago but not recently.

All it needs now is for Humax to look at the huge numbers of suggestions for improvements listed on Digital Spy

Those are old threads aimed at the 9200T and many (but by no means all) of the requested features were implemented; can you explain what use you think there would be in trawling through them?

On playback the picture often skips and goes out of sync. Very annoying making some programmes virtually unwatchable.
You need to be careful that you are diagnosing the problem correctly. If this happens on most recordings then my guess would be that the hard disk is reallocating sectors at a high rate and changing the disk is likely to help. However if recording of some series of programs are fine but other series of programs are problematic then this is a different problem which is an inherent problem with the 9300 and changing the disk will not help.
If you do decide to change the disk then it is straight forward to do but you need to buy a replacement intended for use in PVRs. When you replace the disk then the next time the Humax boots up it will recognise the new drive and offer to format it.

Does anybody know if a 5-year old unit will connect to the internet without having a Freesat signal present and if so, what I am doing wrong?
If it is like the HDR_FOX T2 then it will require a signal to update the time and date. Without the correct time and date the certificate used to connect the portal will appear invalid. That doesn’t explain your problem with getting an IP address which sounds like a problem with your internal network connectivity.

As I can’t get into menu is there any way of resetting the box?
There is a System Flush Update File available at Link to Hummy Wiki which is intended to help in similar cases.

I have been using a humax 9150t for some time but the hard drive capacity seems to have shrunk.
I only have just over 20 hrs taped but the hard drive is 96% full. I compared it with my Mothers identical
Machine and she has double the amount stored and 50% still free.
Sounds like a file system problem. Watch any important recordings and then format the hard drive from the HDD Control menuitem in the Record menu (default PIN is 0000).

ParticipantHave you tried the ‘Normal’ option?

I’ve just returned from holiday, & I’ve had at least seven or eight of the above error messages, over the last 10 days recordings. What causes this? It’s not a conflict with other recordings, as I didn’t overlap programs.
What channel are these on? There were a number of late schedule changes due to the Commonwealth Games that affected BBC channels.

Hi
I have a 9300T which according to Humax needs a new hard drive (it stopped recording and doesnt have a record option in menu). Looking on here it appears to be relatively easy to change but what hard drive do i buy to put in and do i need to do anything other than just swap them over ?
You want a drive designed for PVR usage; this should be suitable Link to Ebuyer. Once you have installed the new drive you simply turn on the Humax which will ask if you want to format the drive and a few seconds later the job will be done.

I hear what you say Barry but my position if I was Humax would be this – to the engineers – this must be your only focus until this issue is resolved.
But the engineers have fixed it. My assumption is that it is the management stalling on the release for an unspecified reason. Maybe they don’t want to spend whatever an OTA costs or maybe they are waiting for some other fix to be included or maybe …. The frustrating bit is not knowing what is happening.

If it is possible to boot up having done that and we establish that there is an hd problem is it redeemable (I recall paying about £100 ish for the box)?
Yes (with a bit of fiddling around).

thanks repassac – do you mean disconnect the HD cable?
Yes remove the SATA cable from the hard drive. NB be very careful with the lid off to make sure the mains is off as it is very easy to touch the power supply and destroy it.
