Intermittently (twice one week, not at all for 4 or 5 weeks) a single station disappears overnight – while unit in standby.

Is it really a single station or is it all the stations on a particular multiplex? Either way it doesn’t sound like a common problem.

    2) Trying to cycle the power to resolve this, it became apparent that “standby” is no longer anything of the sort.

How long did you leave it in standby before attempting to take it out of standby?

I’ve checked that the internet connection works by connecting my laptop to the internet cable with the wi-fi turned off.

And the iPlayer works on the Humax.

Are you leaving the box in standby overnight whilst connected to the Internet?

The Samsung Freeview HD TV’s that I use, Do not require the selection of DVB-T, or DVB-T2 when manual tuning.

So do they scan each channel twice once looking for a DVB-T signal and once for a DVB-T2 (which is what the Humax does when doing an automatic tune)? If they do, does that make a manual tune slower on the Samsung?

Victor Delta – 37 minutes ago  » The issue I was querying is why other devices (in my experience) don’t need one to select DVB-T2 or DVB-T for manual tuning.

Which other devices have you used?

    – Connected to laptop usb port following instructions supplied with cable adapter kit.

Of course I don’t know what the instructions say. My IDE/SATA to USB adapter has a label on it (in my hand writing) saying “apply power to disk before plugging USB adapter into computer” but I don’t know how common the need to do that is.

Sorry, I only used HDR as a generic reference for a hard disc recorder

PVR would be better as many Humax models have HDR in their name.

Is there anything else I can try before purchasing a new drive, in case this isn’t the problem? I tried connecting it to 2 different laptops, neither of which would see the drive.

If you are confident about initialising a disk and are sure that it isn’t showing up then I think you have done all you can. If you are not confident then describe exactly what you have done.

Can I presume the HDD has completely failed and if so can anyone suggest the best replacement? The Western Digital WD3200AVVS is no longer available.

Difficult to be sure whether the drive has failed. I am uncertain because if the drive was completely dead the box should just boot up as a set top box. If you do need to replace the drive then this is suitable Link to EBuyer

Sat down to have lunch turned TV and HDR on to find the picture had an overall red hue and no sound.

Sorry I am confused. The title mentions 9200T but the quote above refers to an HDR? If it is a 9200T is the SCART cable properly seated at each end.

-in manual connection, use same IP address, netmask (should be 255.255.255.0) and gateway. However use primary DNS as 8.8.8.8

Why are you suggesting using the same IP address? Surely that opens the possibility of the router allocating the IP address to another device and two devices with the same IP address will definitely cause problems. I would suggest giving a unique IP address outside the range of addresses used by the DHCP server on the router.

In addition IP download has also been enabled:

    • The product will need to be left in Standby overnight

Barry, someone on hummy.tv is saying that a manually initiated software check on an Internet connected box will pull in the update on demand; is that correct?

connected a LAN cable to my 2000T, went into settings, configured LAN, it told me I was connected to network but when I tried the Portal button it tells me I’m not connected. What am I missing? Thanks.

First thing to try is putting the box in standby, waiting until the drive stops spinning, then turn off the mains supply, wait 30 seconds and turn it on again. There is something slightly odd about the Humax networking that some times needs a power cycle to sort out,

    Postcode is NP25

    Manually tuned channels are: 39 – 41 – 42 – 44 – 45 – 47

I think you are doing things correctly. Digital UK predict variable reception for the SDN multiplex that carries ITV3 which seems to be what you are experiencing with the Humax but the TV manages to do better. My guess is that the poor signal quality is due to interference from another transmitter. I suggest talking to a local aerial installer to see if any improvements can be made with a different aerial or amplifier etc.

On my HDR-2000T some of the media recordings have a ‘G’ icon shown against them. Can anyone please advise me what this means – I can’t find the answer in the user’s manual?

I think it signifies “Parental Guidance”.
