I am getting confused by the light(and I can not see a reference in the manual)

It is capable of three states

I think so although to my eyes the difference between the two shades of red is minuscule.

    dim red – stand by

    Yes.

    bright red ?

    Recording.

    blue?

Active but not recording ie you can watch TV via the box.

Left it on all night in standby – blue light – connected to web but no up date.

If the blue light is showing it isn’t in standby which would be the dim red light.

I got an email from Humax, saying that new software had been developed for the TV ariel loop through. I’ve tried to update, but my TV still won’t work without the PVR either on, or recording.

Have you got power saving in standby set to off?

Many thanks for the info anyway Luke, appreciated. Will check DTG schedules for OTA updates… maybe that should have been my first point of call!?!

Currently no OTA updates but if you can connect the box to the Internet then it will download the update overnight if left in standby.

On a similar tack… has anyone encountered the issue of failed recordings on the 2000T?

Can’t spot any particular pattern but about 1 in 10 scheduled recordings seem to fail (most recently on BBC3 or BBC4 for some reason).

List of recorded items shows program name but states 0mins duration and will not play.

Is there a reason given eg Failed to track. If it is failed to track have you tried manual tuning?

You might consider transcoding DLNA server software such as Plex; see Link to Plex website

I’ve downloaded ext2fsd and run the exe but it has no effect.

As you haven’t told us what you did; it is hard to guess where you went wrong. Try following the steps in the Howto for Ext2FSD

Iffy looking download, hope I’ve not got malvirus Trojan worms! Can you offer any reassurance that ext2fsd is harmless?

For what little it is worth, I believe it to be reputable.

Going to default without changing anything the software version shows as is PGXTF 1.00.21 dated 24 DEC 2007. If 1.00.23 is more recent is there any way I could find it and load it?

You can download it here and I think it might help. See post #2 in this thread Link to 1.00.23 software You probably also want to read Link to flash9200 which describes the software update procedure for the 9xxx models.

My older hard drive is an iomega 320Gb formatted .ts and I just discovered I can play recordings on it with the laptop.

What do you mean by formatted .ts? I would have thought it would probably be FAT32?

How can I get it to play the ext3 files?

EXT3 is a file system not a file type. You need an EXT3 file system driver installing on a Windows PC such as Ext2Fsd see Link to Ext2Fsd With that or something similar you will be able to see the .ts files.

TV portal loads up but BBC iplayer logo appears with message “sorry we do not support your device”

Any one else had this problem with HD FOX T2?

Everybody with an HD-FOX T2 who tries to use iPlayer will have the same problem.

Can someone tell me please, is the fan on the 9200T meant to be on all the time? Mine is.

If I remember correctly (which is by no means guaranteed) it is on all the time on the boxes from the first couple of years of production.

After a couple of hours the box often locks up. All controls including the ON/OFF button on the remote and controls along the front of the box have no effect. The only thing that unlocks it is turning it off and on at the back.

Could it be overheating? It’s on wood blocks giving 1″ clearence above a carpet in a cool room.

I doubt that it is overheating based on what you say. I take it that it is on the latest software version 1.00.23? How old is the disk drive? have you tried a reset to default settings?

One odd thing; using the TV remote to chanmge TV display ratios sometimes causes the 9200T to change to the next channel.

I don’t think that is significant.

Three Months – What a disrespectful and shameless company Humax are. How dare they say it takes this period of time to fix an issue. It is ONLY because this model is not making them any NEW money that they have given up investing in its upkeep.

So which are the technology companies that do invest money in software development to keep their old equipment running? I could provide quite a long list of companies that don’t so am interested to know whether or not Humax are in a minority.

Could anybody tell me the difference between these 2 models (apart from the price). What does the DTR and HDR mean?

DTR-2000 is Youview and HDR-2000 is Freeview+. The Youview box will give you more catchup services; the Freeview box is a somewhat better PVR. You need to choose what is important for you.

Having said that, It does seem worse when it is bad weather but the signal strength still remains really strong when I check the tuning menu.

How far away from Winter Hill are you (if unsure give the first part of your post code)?
