but I wondered if it had a “taste” for certain hard drive makers to that end picked up a couple of seagates (plenty around) possibly pulled from similar equipment anyway,

The 9200T is quite fussy about what drives it will accept although there have been reports of various non-standard drives working but from far too long ago for me to remember details. Trial and error I am afraid.

iplayer works with no issues on both my HDR FOX T2 boxes.

I don’t use iplayer a great deal but last time I did, it crashed our HDR-FOX T2.

Again, what is the lock, enable/disable in recording schedule for?

Parental control; you can mark recordings as locked and they can only be played (or unlocked) by someone who knows the PIN.

Are you saying that it is not possible to record two channels simultaneously that are are on the same multiplex?

I most certainly am not saying that. You should most definitely be able to record two programs from the same multiplex; the point I was making was that they will share a single tuner so your question about signal strength on other tuners is irrelevant.

I’m not able to record BBC2 HD at the same time as ITV HD.

BBC2 HD and ITV HD are both on the same multiplex so whatever the problem is it is not a tuner problem as they would share a single tuner.

Problem 1) was the software update via usb adapter under “slow” and “very slow” it ended with an error E-HC at normal speed all was fine so I am a little puzzled any ideas?

Normal speed should work with any decent USB to Serial adapter. The slower speeds are only there for some of the cheap ebay adapters that are very marginal. If it worked at normal speed I wouldn’t worry.

After this time had passed the display just showed —- on its left side and unresponsive to remote or manual button push.

I have given the clock area a clean

When I try to input the Internet password it will not accept the final letter so it fails every time. Has anyone suggest a solution please.

How many characters is the password?

I don’t have personal experience with the Home Hub 5, but it appears to me the behaviour described below might easily wreak havoc on a Freesat box trying to get itself connected:

    Quote:
Smart Setup is a very annoying feature on this router. Every time you connect a new device to the Home Hub 5 and launch a web browser, the router redirects to a page that advertises all of the free stuff that you get with your broadband account. We’ve also found that it can stop some devices that don’t have a web browser, such as a home automation system, from connecting to the internet.

That sounds very plausible to me.

Bought a 2000T yesterday. Set up by simply swapping all the connections from my old Panasonic Freeview/DVD recorder, including the HDMI cable. Switched on. Red light – changed to blue when I switched off standby, but no install menu. Eventually reduced to starting all over again but still nothing.

Was this sold as a new box? It sounds as though it is recording (presumably to someone else’s schedule) which would account for the red light and lack of access to the installation menu.

It appears some “grade A” 9200Ts were sold in a 9500T shell from humax direct.

Thanks for the clarification. I am not going to beat myself up about a six year old thread on a forum I have never read.

Yes, it is a blcak cased, 320gig version of the 9200T.

I have to confess I haven’t hear of the 9500T; the black cased 9200 models were 9200TB and 9200TBX. There was a 9300T with a 500NB disk that was a 9300T500. Anyway if what you have is related to the 9200 then the first thing to try would be a reset to default settings. If that doesn’t resolve the problem then the next thing to try would be to format the hard drive from the HDD Control menu item in the record menu; this will of course delete all your existing recordings.

New here, and wondered if there were any 9500T owners still using their boxes? If so had they spotted this foible? From Nov 4th the 9500T stopped recording the event information with and programme. It appears when viewing from the guide but does not record it.

Do you really have a 9500T or is it a 9150T?

Then I found that if I moved the aerial lead where it plugged into the PVR it made a huge difference to the quality, between 10 and 100% – with little effect on the level. But this was highly selective and it was difficult to get all of the channels in use (between 26 and 52) at 100% quality.

I assume the other end of the fly lead is plugged into a wall socket? Have you looked at the wiring in the wall socket. Sounds to me very like a badly made joint that are very commonly reported to give problems on Humax kit.

I am about to take delivery of a new FVP 4000T to upgrade from my FOX-T2. As I have many recordings on the FOX-T2 is it possible to network both machines to either:

    1. Copy recordings to the new FVP 4000T from the FOX-T2 via the network.

Assuming you don’t have custom firmware installed, that will not work because the HDR recordings would still be encrypted and only playable on the box that made the recording.

    2. Play the recordings on the FOX-T2 disk from within the FVP 4000T via the network.

Turning on the DLNA server in the HDR should allow you to play them on the FVP-4000T with its DLNA client but I don’t know for certain as I don’t have an FVP 4000T.

I am hoping I will not have to revert to a flash drive via the USB

That will work for SD recordings but not HD.

I wondered about water etc, but why would the same aerial cable work fine when plugged directly into my freeview TV, but see no signal when plugged into the Humax? Is the Humax more likely to go down if signal quality is poor?

You haven’t told us what the signal strength is yet; it could be that your signal strength is too high. The HDR-FOX has quite sensitive tuners so it will usually do better than other kit but is also more likely to give problems with poorly made connections.
