The HDR-FOX T2 should see all of the recordings on the FVP-4000T, but will
not play any of them.
Is it understood why the HDR-FOX T2 won’t play them?

I think this is correct, the freetime boxes are the first to support read/write to NTFS volumes, without additional software.
Earlier Freeview+ boxes like the HDR FOX T2, could read but not write to NTFS.
The HDR-2000T can read and write to NTFS USB storage.

My question is about the cooling fan which I understamd does not spin up until it is needed.
Is this assumption correct and under what circumstances will it start up .
If the DTR is like other Humax boxes then the fan will spin when the hard drive temperature passes a threshold value (in the region of 50 C).
Recording two programs and playing back another doesnt seem to need the fan but the drive is fairly warm. measured as varying between 39 to 43 degrees in contact with the hard drive case.
Those temperature are perfectly acceptable; the Seagate drives I am familiar with have a SMART failure attribute at 55 C.
How would I check the fan ? Thank You.
If you can get the box hot enough then a small strip of paper near the fan outlet will tell you if there is air flow.

Are there signal strength readings?
Signal strength was high (I can’t get to look again right now) but at least 80%, but it was the quality reading that was so low as I mentioned just on channel 29.
The actual numbers would help; too high a signal strength can be a problem.

Looking up signal detection in Settings it shows channel 21 by default. Also selectable are others to about 31 (I think). It is only Ch 29 which looks poor with quality showing something like 20%.
Are there signal strength readings?

Any ideas please?
Start off by telling us the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax ona selection of channels. Without that information we would just be guessing.

Martin, the box started going wrong by switching itself off and then randomly switching back on some hours later. By unplugging the mains and leaving it for some the box would eventually come back on when reconnected to the mains.
I would say it is either
a) a main board fault (as your engineer suggested).
b) a power supply fault (which he may or may not have tested and discounted).
c) a front panel board problem. I haven’t direct experience of this problem so see if somebody with more experience comes and offers an opinion.

Have been told by local repairers that main board has gone west and that they are unable to source a replacement therefore unrepairable.
So what problems is the box suffering from?

Which software are you using?
I’m using the Humax Media Controller V1.02 (GUI Interface)
Some time since I last used that; is that transferring only the .ts file? If so I don’t think you will be able to put the recordings back. The alternative would be to use humaxrw which will transfer the other associated files with the .ts and will allow the recordings to be replaced on the 9200 after formatting. However it requires a direct connection to the hard drive (I have used an IDE to USB converter) rather than the USB port on the Humax.

I managed to find the details for installing windows 7 transfer software so everything is good there.
Which software are you using?

2) When I power the humax 1800t off and on again by pulling the power cord I won’t have access to the harddrive at all, so I can’t access the media or pvr functionality.
Yes this problem has been reported a fair number of times so I think it must be a software bug; I am slightly surprised that Humax haven’t fixed it.

Any ideas why?
Best guess would be that the loader isn’t included in the software.
Also, having just returned from a week away, I’ve noticed that most of my recordings have suffered signal failures, momentary pixelations, etc. I was rather hoping Application version : UKTFAC 1.01.16 was going to sort all that out.
I doubt that software will resolve that problem. What is the signal strength and quality reported by the Humax on the channels you were recording?

Hi guys, replying on this forum a little later than expected but nonetheless.
The update I loaded on was hdr-foxt2_1_03_12.zip would anyone know anything else for me to try as as I mentioned before I am a novice when it comes to these things
You need to install the custom firmware to resolve this problem. The file you want is Link to custom firmware but just doing this is not enough. You then need to follow the instructions at Link to hummy.tv wiki on running fix-disk. If this is beyond your level of technical competence then do you have any friends who could hep; failing that a PC repair shop should be able to follow the instructions but do give them the links I have posted.

I have a USB drive attached to my Humax and the drive has crashed.
Could you explain what you mean by crashed?

What is the “Loader”?
The Loader is the first piece of software that runs when the box boots up. Its main job is to load the main operating system but it also handles software updates via USB stick. Once the box has started the loader has finished its job.
