    pc 217.39.15.150

    router 192.168.1.254

    humax 192.0.2.100

That looks very odd to me with three different subnets. What make and model is the router? I think 192.0.2.100 is a default IP address used by the Humax when DHCP is not working. What IP address does the router think it has allocated to the Humax?

All four requests timed out, all lost.

So the Humax is acquiring an IP address by DHCP but you can’t ping it from another computer on the same network; is that correct? If so something is wrong. What are the IP addresses of the PC, the router and the Humax?

I wasn’t able to test 1.00.63 as Humax haven’t released it publicly but it seems that the only way with 1.00.59 you can unencrypt SD recordings over Samba is to use Windows 8 or Windows 10.

Is it understood why that is the case?

Thanks for your patience I had already done what you suggest, but I have done it all again. I also reinstalled the firmware. Nothing has changed.

OK; what happens if you try to ping the Humax IP Address from the PC?

I think something else has gone wrong in the Fox T2.

I think something in your network has got confused. I would start trying to trouble shoot this by turning off the power to both the router and the Humax (after putting the Humax into standby and waiting for the disk to stop spinning). Then turn on power to the router, wait until it has booted up and then power to the Humax. See if you can get the Humax portal to connect and then try Telnet again.

Can anyone guide me through the process that Luke mentioned?

The FAQs on this site for this issue is Link to FAQ on using Custom Firmware to fix hard drive problems

and the frequent comments on the web that Humax uses cheap, unreliable electronic components.

I don’t think Humax have a significant track record of using unreliable components; the first Youview box seemed to have a problem with something in the hard drive interface and there is an ongoing issue with the HDR Freesat boxes which may be software or may be hardware; what else did you have in mind? I do think Humax are less interested in fixing software issues than they used to be.

My HDR is now completely non functional. Can it be recovered, or is it junk?

It sounds as though you have one of the late production models with different hardware for the tuners. This requires the latest software. I suggest you install version 1.03.12 before doing anything else and see if that resolves the problem. The post you have quoted was made before the late production models existed.

Although this site is dedicated to Humax, it is a public forum, I also suspect many of the contributers may also be employees of Humax

Perhaps you would care to name the contributors that you suspect of being Humax employees; as far as I am aware there are no Humax employees contributing to this site. In long gone days one or two Humax employees have contributed very occasionally to other Humax related sites but sadly Humax today are very different to the company they were ten years ago.

Thank you bmax :-) the read me file says ‘This program will copy files from the disk fitted to the Humax 9200T PVR ‘ is it OK to use on the 9300T?

Yes but note that on a 9200T you can also copy files back to the Humax but this is reported not to work properly on a 9300T (the files appear to copy but then vanish).

I forgot that my T2 stripped encoding.

So what problem does your HDR-FOX T2 have that makes you want to replace it?

I do not understand why anyone is saying that there is a work around as, when there is a bogus file restriction caused by a malfunction in the software you cannot delete some files regardless of following the: Play>Stop>Delete method above. It does not work in all situations.

What I’d like to know is why Humax do not apply a software correction in their updates to resolve this? Just because something is out of guarantee does not negate the responsibility of a manufacturer against creating faulty goods that malfunction?

I think the chances of Humax releasing a software update for an uncommon problem on an obsolete box are vanishingly small. If you want to actually resolve the problem then install the custom firmware and run fix-disk to ensure the file system is in a sensible state; if still unable to delete the file through the user interface then attempt to delete it from the web interface of the custom firmware; if that fails then delete it from the command line of the custom firmware.

It has no doubt been said before, but the 9200T repsponsiveness problem is caused by the processor being overloaded when populating the EPG

Is it the processor or a shortage of RAM?

I am 76 years old I don!t know what a network switch is

It is a device with a number of network ports that will allow a single ethernet connection to be shared by a number of devices. Literally all you do is plug the switch into the mains; connect the cable from the router to one of the ports on the switch and connect cables from the two Humax boxes to other ports on the switch. Nothing to configure at all.

I would suggest Link to Amazon as a suitable cheap switch.
