We have a HDR1800T and a Sony KDL32P30xx. The telly is old but very good picture. Is its age the reason it we now cannot get Iplay.? Alternatively, is it a pairing problem? Perhaps it needs new software? Why doesn’t Humax update the software remotely? Should We buy a new television with Iplayer installed and just use the Humax to record things?
The iPlayer app is produced by the BBC and I think they make the decisions about what devices are supported. According to the BBC web site the HDS-2000T is no longer supported. If you are happy with the HDR-2000T as a PVR and the Sony as TV then the best solution might be to buy a basic Amazon Firestick (currently on offer for less than £25 to give you a range of streaming channels including iPlayer and ITVX.

When watching a recording if I skip (30 second jumps) the adverts the progress bar jumps appropriately but when the next adverts come on and I jump (right arrow next to ok button) it jumps back to the end of the previous adverts as the progress bar hasn’t moved.
Any ideas what has happened as it used to be fine?
I suspect it is an intermittent fault that everybody sees from time to time. Pretty high up on my list of bugs that should have been fixed.

Ok, well I’ll make a list of my scheduled recordings then, and even my recordings so I can watch them in catch-up apps IF they do disappear (having just googled and seen several posts saying reset on the Aura DID delete their recordings – even though it said it wouldn’t and their HD usage still showed a percentage used they could not get them back!) just in case…
There are two sorts of reset on the Aura, one deletes the recordings the other leaves the recordings intact. I am not in front of my Aura to be able to tell you how to access the one that does not delete recordings.

The hard drive on my HDR FOX TD gave up the ghost recently after 12 years so I decided to buy a new Humax.
It isn’t difficult to change a hard drive on the HDR-FOX T2.
The only Humax Freeview box available was the Aura. My only complaint (so far) is the way it stores recordings. Instead of the hierarchical folder structure that gave the user control of organisation of files that I was used to, recordings just seem to be lumped together in one list.
a) i don’t see this issue mentioned anywhere else. Is it just me? Suppose you had a computer without folders? Good luck finding your files.
Yup I am afraid that is the way it is and nothing you can do about it.
On a wider note
b) Why on earth did Humax withdraw the HDR FOX TD?
They replaced it with the HDR-2000T which has similar functionality (although they managed to introduce some new bugs in the transition); I guess it was cheaper to make and so they made more profit.

I have a seagate barracuda 3TB HDD in my Aura, I installed and formatted it with no problems and have been using it for 3 months now.
Are you getting the full 3TB of storage?

Please can someone let me know what capacity HDD the 2TB Aura is able to use.
It is a good question and I don’t know the answer. It comes down to will the Aura support a GPT partition style which is usually required for capacities bigger than 2TB. Anybody here used a drive bigger than 2TB with the Aura?
I have used HDDs with Humax models in the past with varying success. I have managed to get a 2TB HDD to work previously. I have ended up bricking a 5TB HDD in the past where the Humax box has formatted the HDD and then had not been able to use it. I wondered at the time if the capacity was too big for the Humax to deal with.
As far as I know earlier Humax recorders (with the exception of the HDR-FOX T2 using custom firmware) will only use MBR partition styles which limits the drive capacity to 2TB.

Has anybody tried restarting their apps on the Aura?
Yes I have experimented with it as somebody suggested it was a way of recovering from the black screen problem. In the cases I have seen it hasn’t helped but I fully believe there are cases where it will help. It is only restarting the apps which will happen every 4 days or so when there is the slow start up so I think restarting apps is a short term fix for some problems.

One thing that really bugs me is that it takes a good minute or so to wake up every time we go to use it, even though we never use the power button to turn it off/put it to sleep.
It sounds as though it might be going into deep standby. Try checking in Settings> Freeview Play Preferences> Deep standby is set to Never.

Had 2 réponses from ITV support.
First was how to reinstall the ITVX app. Trouble was the instructions were for the Fox T2. (unhelpful)
As the Fox T2 never had support for any ITV player that is ridiculous.

In principle I could use FTP, but it wouldn’t help with HD recordings (which most of mine are), as the HDCP encryption would make the downloaded file unplayable. It would also take quite a while to download each video (e.g. maybe half an hour or more for an episode of Match of the Day), at my ISP’s max. upload speed of 2Mbps?
You could overcome the HD issue by recording both HD and SD versions of programmes you might want to play remotely providing you have space on the hard drive. Any solution is going to be compromised by a 2Mb/s upload speed; I am in the fortunate position of having 50Mb/s upload.

Yes I do copy a few recordings to take away, when I remember, but I often want to watch something that was recorded after I left, or which I’d forgotten to copy in advance.
I was thinking you could use FTP when away from home; is that not feasible?

I recently tried to stream recordings from my Aura on my Windows laptop while I was staying away from home (using the web UI via my home VPN). The output was unwatchable, as it would stop and buffer every few seconds. I was wondering whether anyone had successfully streamed recordings over the internet?
Have you considered using the Convert option on the Aura to transcode recordings to a lower quality? Alternatively could you use FTP to copy the recording to the Windows laptop and play it locally?

I plugged the Seagate box in to my laptop, running Windows. In the File Explorer screen, I can see ‘Technicolor DLNA Server’ as a file location
But can you see the contents of the Seagate drive with File Explorer? If not that suggests to me that the drive has been formatted by the Humax and is using a Linux ext3 file system which complicates things. There are solutions if you want to get into technicalities. From a manual for a Techicolour router:
“access your media files:
On Windows 10, right-click OpenWrt DLNA Server and then click Open Media Player.
Another Windows version, double-click OpenWrt DLNA Server”.
Does that show anything? I am guessing it won’t but worth a try.

I had a Humax HDR-Fox T2, then a HDR-2000T and saved some non-HD files from both Humaxs on a Seagate externally powered 2TB Storage drive. Both Humax recorders have given up and I would like to be able to watch the recordings from the Seagate drive, but without playing them via another Humax. I’ve tried plugging the Seagate directly into the USB ports on a TV and a laptop, but neither device will play them.
I assume you copied the files by plugging the hard drive into the Humax so that encryption has been removed? You might try installing the free VLC player on your laptop and that should play them. Otherwise you would probably need to do something to the recordings to make them playable which might be as simple as changing the file extension or might involve transcoding the recordings.

FVP 4000T, doesn’t have a blue/red light, but I can hear the disk spinning if I unplug the power on adapter at the back of the unit. When the power button on the top is pressed, the disk stops spinning, but doesn’t start again, when repressed.
First thing I would try is to open the box and disconnect the hard drive and see if the box will then power up; if it does this suggests the problem is with the hard drive.
