The main problems are the recording schedule clearing itself at will, series links and other recordings not being recorded, the clock in standby is an hour out, freezing, EPG not loading.

The recording schedule clearing itself is a well known problem (on the 9300 and 9150) and once it starts to effect a box it is almost impossible to get rid of. Personally I think it is a hardware problem but others think it is a software problem; either way you have been sold a faulty box. Demand your money back.

I bought a refurbished 9300t from Amazon (stupidly it turns out) and have had nothing but problems with it. I’ve re set it I don’t know how many times, done manual retunes by the shedload and re-formatted the hard drive/disk too.

You need to tell us what problems you are experiencing for anybody to offer any useful help.

I have looked at the local network settings on my iMac and have found the following which I then input manually on the Humax.

    IP address: 192.168.1.197

    Net mask address : 255.255.255.0

    Gateway address : 192.168.1.254

    Primary DNS? : 192.168.1.250

Are you sure that the Gateway address and the Primary DNS are different? That would be unusual in a domestic setup and an incorrect DNS will stop the Humax from connecting to the Internet.

It appears that the 400T uses 192.168.1.250

    Uses it for what?

I have a PVR9200T Box in my bedroom with SW version PGXTF 1.00.15 from 2007 (gulp)!. I doubt that this is up to date? If not, where can I obtain the latest files, please?

You can download PGXTF 1.00.23 from Link to 1.00.23 on Dropbox

You will also need software to apply the update. I would suggest flash9200 from Link to Flash9200 home page

After you have updated the software do a reset to default settings. To get acceptable performance from the 9200 you probably will need to do a manual tune and select only three or four multiplexes.

It worked this time, or at least I think it did.

Any idea what you did differently this time?

Did they come up with an solution on the 9300?

The only workaround that I am aware of is not to put the box into standby.

As to the RTC, what should I conclude from the fact that the set always comes on at the programmed time, yet fails to start recording, just outputting audio?

I wouldn’t have expected it to output anything if it has woken up to do a recording.

It has clearly remembered the time – and suggests whatever wiping goes on, happens at startup rather than at switch off or the time in between. RTC exonerated???

Yes I agree with both points.

But when you try timer record (from standby or while on) the prog will not record, and the record schedule is wiped. When trying from standby, it lights up, outputs audio and responds to the remote. No video till power is cycled though.

Could you clarify “When trying from standby”; what is being tried?

The box seems to do software updates in the background. Whilst I can’t prove it, it often seems to do so in the middle of watching TV: the screen will blank, the box will part boot, blank again, then reboot, then go off – usually at the most inopportune moment of a program! If I turn the box back on, it behaves itself as normal for a few weeks.

That doesn’t sound like a software update to me; my best guess would be that the Humax software is crashing for some reason.

Is this being passed back to Humax or should I contact them directly ?

One other thing though, as the Humax is going to be in a secure location, your home usually, there’s not really any need to hide the password on input & it does make it easier to check what your typing, would it be possible to suggest that to them as well

Contacting Humax directly is the only way to be sure that they have the information. Whether they do anything about it is a completely different matter.

If it was a bug, surely it would affect a lot of machines.

It does affect a lot of machines; why do you think it doesn’t?

I know this is a fairly old thread, but does anyone know why this happens ?

It must be a software bug.

The only thing I can think of is that my router passphrase is too long for the 4000T, it’s 42 characters

Or the special symbols in the passphrase are throwing the 4000t and not being passed to the router properly when it attempts to connect.

The passphrase is 42 characters mixed upper & lowercase with numbers and also contains several “-” characters

I don’t have an FVP-4000T so can’t comment specifically on that model. Certainly earlier Humax boxes have had limits on both passphrase length and passphrase character set that would have rendered your passphrase invalid. I think it would be helpful if you could experiment and see if it is the length or the character set that is is the issue.

The drive is gone, according to telnet check as well.

What exactly do you mean by “telnet check”? What symptoms caused you to start investigating?

There is a circuit board in housing with the drive which gets very hot, and the fan does not work.

Is this the circuit board attached to the hard drive (containing the hard drive controller electronics)? The fan doesn’t run continuously so how do you know the fan is not working?

My feeling is that it is worth attempting to replace the hard drive.
