IP address 192.168.1.73
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway address 192.168.1.254
DNS Address 192.168.1.254
Which all looks perfectly reasonable. How is the Humax connected to the router (cable, powerline adapters etc)? Have you tried power cycling the router?

The Configure Lan setting is “On” and on telling it to apply the settings I get the message Network Connected after a very short delay
What is the IP address, Gateway and Netmask shown for the Humax?

One annoyance with the 9200 was inability to transfer files to a PC. The forums had a way to enable that, but it involved opening the box and substantial engineering work.
You can transfer from the 9200 without opening the box but it isn’t very fast.
I see that the 2000T has a USB port, but the on-line manual implies that recorded programs cannot be copied out. Is that right?
You can copy SD recordings to attached USB storage device and the encryption will be removed and the recordings can be played on a PC or a tablet using a suitable player eg VLC. HD recordings are more challenging but there are ways of doing it but they are outside the scope of the rules of this Forum.
Q2: I read several complaints about noisy hard drives on HDR2000T. Does the 1800T (which presumably uses a different hard drive) also have this problem?
I don’t know the answer. We have a 2000T and I don’t notice any noise from the hard drive but we all have different perceptions on such matters.

What is a mux?
A mux is a collection of digital channels amalgamated togther for broadcasting and then split out again by the Humax. Typically your Humax will be receiving five multiplexes and reducing the number of multiplexes to three or four will improve the responsiveness of the Humax but mean certain channels are not available via the Humax.
only that I am fed up with my humax jumping forward! If I can work out how to do it, will it help?
NO. There is as far as I am aware no fix for the jumping forward problem.

I am convinced that it is down to the codecs and type of film material (low-key lit scenes, for example) and basically a, now, low-powered CPU in the Humax being asked to do more then it is capable of. Let’s face it. As well as decoding the video signal, it also has to do a lot of housekeeping in the background, managing all those muxes with those lousy shopping channels. Basically it runs out of steam.
I think you will find that in all the Humax products that the CPU does not do any decoding; it is all done by special purpose decoding chips. My best guess (give that the problem did not occur for some time after the 9300 was made available) is that the broadcaster started to use a new type of encoding that was in the broadcast specifications but hadn’t previously been used and there is some sort of bug in the decoding hardware.

I understand how to format the HDD. I just need to know how to proceed afterwards.
As you have already done a reset to default settings then I don’t think there is anything else to do.

If I format the HDD, do I then follow the Quick Start Guide? Sorry to be not at all technical.
Use the HDD Control menu item in the Record menu. Default PIN is 0000.

Maybe try & run Windows SFC command & check for bad sectors etc + reformat on PC, then have another go of putting back in PVR & see if everything wokrs again. Worth a try? The problem with hard drives is that they can fail at any moment. The Humax 9300 hard drive is IDE & not SATA fitting.
The 9300 is definitely SATA; the earlier 9200 is IDE. I suggest a first step would be to format the disk on the 9300 using the HDD Control menu item in the Record Menu.

[C:>humaxhumaxrw 1: -l
\.PhysicalDrive1: No such file or directory]
Is this a laptop or a desktop? You might try 4: to 9: as I think in some cases the drive number might get pushed up higher.

After entering command I got the following:
Code:C:>humaxhumaxrw 2: -l
Unsupported partition
C:>humaxhumaxrw 3: -l
\.PhysicalDrive3: No such file or directory
C:>humaxhumaxrw 4: -l
\.PhysicalDrive4: No such file or directoryWhat happens with humaxrw 1: -l

I have been given by family member Western Digital 320GB disk from a Humax. The provider removed disk carefully and said I could keep (useful as external HDD for me) but in return I would try and retain video files for them. I have attached cables to power and SATA plug and downloaded humaxrw. On trying to interrogate disk as Administrator using humaxrw 2: -l I get ‘not recognised as command’. Could you guide me further?
You presumably downloaded a zip file containing humaxrw.exe? I assume you extracted the .exe file; in what folder did you put it. Either use the full path to the folder or cd to the folder in question eg if you placed it in a folder called humax then you would execute it with something like
c:humaxhumaxrw 2: -l

So I am going to go back to using the old Fox T2, I will not record much on BBC, i can use iplayer instead.
As a matter of interest, why won’t you record on BBC?

I have received my HB 1000S box and I am quite happy with it, but so far the channels are in a weird order and I haven’t found a way to change it, I have only found about deleting channels.
Can you describe what you mean by “weird order”? Have you tried putting the box into standby, leaving it there for five minutes and then bringing it out of standby; on some Humax models the initial setup can leave the channels in an unusual order but going into and out of full standby sorts it out.

My Humax 9150 PVR is recording daily views and initially marks Series recording as well but once the daily views have passed and it goes overnight the Series recording disappears.
That sounds like a well known problem that only affects the 9150/9300 and unfortunately there is no known solution. Only workaround is to leave the box on 24 hours a day.
