I am trying to play a file on my PC – windows 10 Media Player, which I have downloaded from my FVP 4000t – File type dtcp-ip Media player says can’t player that file type.

How did you download it? Is it an Hd or SD recording?

I started to get an intermittent issue with picture break up or total loss for a moment with this error message: “The receiver is not receiving a signal or it is too weak.”

Can you tell if the message is originating from the TV or the Humax? Do you have an aerial lead from the RF-OUT on the Humax to the TV? What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax? Does the picture break up/loss of signal correspond to the start of a recording by the Humax?

How do I record a program that has already started or that I want to see the end of at a later date?

Press the record button on the remote control. This will start recording from the current point in the program to the scheduled end time. You can modify the end time by pressing the record button a second time which will bring up a dialog to change the end time.

Ok that is a main transmitter so I definitely think an attenuator in the aerial feed will help.

Hi again, there is no amplifier but I can see the TV mast from the window so that might explain why. Would this also be the reason for the picture breakup in playback?

    Yes. What transmitter is it?

    Signal strength and quality 100%.

If your signal strength really is 100% then it is quite likely that is the problem. Too high a signal strength can overload the tuners. If you have an amplifier in the aerial cabling then try removing it (or turning down the amplification if it is variable gain) or try a variable attenuator in the aerial cabling. I would suggest aiming at a signal strength of 80%. Signal quality of 100% is fine.

Hi, got a few problems, first off, on playback the picture keeps pixilating in horizontal lines, second when watching normally every so often the picture freezes for a second or two and then catches up, the sound is OK.

What is the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax on the channels where you get this problem?

Have recently experienced the box freezing/taking for ever to respond to the remote.

Can you clarify please; is your box a DTR-T2000 (Youview) or HDR-2000T (Freeview)?

Graham, just solved my dilemma by copying a non-HD program to USB and that plays without problems on PC using VLC or media player.

You might want to pop over to hummy.tv and read about the capabilities of the custom firmware for the HDR-FOX T2.

Are you aware of the Biggles manual tuning instructions in the FAQ on this site https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/week-old-9300t-and-epg-wont-fill-up-for-week#post-7097

Trying to find a listing of Freeview Channel Numbers, not program numbers as each program has it’s own channel number.

A good first check is Digital UK http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/index/dummy/NA/yes

During the procedure I put the drive back in the Humax where it worked, but now it only loads the software and can see no drive, so clearly I have clobbered it in the end.

How do you know it worked?

If none of the humaxrw and humaxcheck options help (and in case I am missing something, which are the most powerful?) beyond reporting bad or no partition, is reformatting the Humax drive the only future?

    Have you tried

    humaxcheck 3: -p -w

Incidentally, in a post-mortem spirit, Windows 7 insists on installing the drive.

Installing drivers should not be an issue; it is initialising the drive that is a problem.

So you can only record freeview on the HDR?

Providing you use a USB attached hard drive with the HD-FOX T2 you can record a single program at a time.

has anyone else pulled their defective drive out of their 1000S to find they had a seagate drive?

Are you sure it is the drive that has failed and not the known hardware issue that stops the box recognising the drive?

Since DLNA stopped working I have been using USB sticks to copy recordings but now I’m getting

    Quote:
Cannot copy files. File size exceeds the limit

error, is this a problem with the recording being too big or not enough space on my USB stick?

It sounds as though the stick is formatted as FAT32 which has a maximum file size of 4GB. If the files you are trying to move are HD recordings then the file size can exceed 4GB which trigger the message you are seeing. One possible solution would be to format the USB stick as NTFS.
