Yes, there is a DHCP server running on the WR802N. I have tried with it both enabled and disabled with a reserved IP address for the Humax’s MAC address…

So does the Humax get an IP address from the DHCP server?

I got the primary DNS address from the WR802N’s admin console.

But the router will be using NAT (Network Address translation) so you can’t use that address for a device attached to the router.

I have tried setting both the gateway and primary DNS to 192.168.0.1 and both to 192.168.43.1 but the result is the same.

The gateway MUST be on the same subnet as the device in a setup like yours so leave it at 192.168.0.1. The primary DNS needs to either be on the same subnet or to be a routable IP address which anything starting 192.168.*.* is not. Try setting the primary DNS to a publicly available address; eg 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) or 208.67.220.220 (Open DNS).

If I select “connect automatically” it says it’s connecting but eventually times out with the message “sorry, no internet connection has been detected”.

I think you want to concentrate on sorting this out. Is there a DHCP server running on the WR802N?

    Select “connect manually”.

So, I set the manual internet connection as follows (details from the WR802N):

    IP address, 192.168.0.101

    Netmask, 255.255.255.0

    Gateway, 192.168.0.1

    Primary DNS, 192.168.43.1

Having the primary DNS on a different subnet is very unlikely to work; where did you get the primary DNS address from?

In the manual connection setup I have entered all of the details (ISP, DNS, gateway etc.) from the WR802N and I have also tried switching off DCHP and reserving the DNS for the Humax’s MAC address.

None of that sounds right. When using automatic setup what are the connection details reported by the Humax>

I have an HB-1000S and want to connect to the internet however I don’t have broadband. So, I purchased the TP-Link WR802N, which can convert WiFi to LAN in client mode.

So what WiFi is the WR802N connecting to if you don’t have broadband?

But if it did have a feed as I think I could add one, t to both the TV and HDR how would the feed from the HDR get to the TV? This is what I do not understand

What is being suggested to you is that you connect the aerial cable to the input of the splitter and one feed goes to the input of the Humax and the other to the input of the TV. The Humax output gets to the TV via the HDMI (or SCART) cable.

The design of my schedule, YouView, and every element of my Humax controls changed this evening.

I think you have posted in the wrong Forum. This is the the forum for the HDR-2000T Freeview box; I suspect you have a T2000 Youview box. Hopefully a moderator will move the post. My guess is the change is due to a software update and it will not be easy to go back but wait for someone with more Youview experience to answer.

Over the past year we have had numerous recordings that have prematurely terminated at 43 minutes, none at any other time.

Ok that is interesting. Have you checked that the box is correctly tuned to a single transmitter?

This would represent some hexadecimal or binary number within the software to terminate a recording if an end time is not known.

But nobody else is reporting this number so I think the problem is with something specific to your installation rather than a general problem.

Why do you believe it wouldn’t know the end time?

A prudent inclusion in the software as, otherwise, the recording could go on forever, filling the hard drive and deleting all other recordings if MENU – Settings – Preferences – Recording – Auto Delete is activated.

I believe there is a provision in the software to catch run away recordings but my tired old brain can’t recollect the details; maybe someone else can?

You do not suggest an alternative explanation and I cannot think of any other logical explanation for premature termination of recording at a consistent fixed time so ‘must’ is the correct word.

I think the problem is local to your box and and ‘must’ is certainly not the correct word.

Must I buy a new TV (as well as the new Humax!)?

Which Freesat Humax box were you using?

So recordings are terminated – 43 minutes must represent a recording limit in the software in the absence of an EPG finish time.

I am not sure about the use of the word “must”; nobody has ever previously postulated that there is a default recording limit and I don’t recall reports that involve termination after 43 minutes. I suspect there is probably an alternative explanation.

When you go into a scheduled recording and press ok you get a box to change the recording options.

One of these is ‘repeat mode’ and the options are once, daily, weekly, weekdays and weekend…

    What does this do exactly?

Repeat mode will record whatever is broadcast at the selected time on the selected channel. Daily will record every day of the week, weekly will record once a week, weekdays will do Monday to Friday, weekend Saturday and Sunday. It won’t use accurate recording and since accurate recording and series recording became available we longer use this functionality.

If this works can I just copy the files to a USB stick, attach the USB stick to the HDR-1100s and move the files from USB to the internal disk on the HDR-1100s?

Yes that will work. Note that you only need the .ts file; the other files associated with a recording are not required and should not be transferred to the HDR-1100S.

I assume the portal runs some type of modifies Android system, therefore is it not possible to add new apps yourself in some way?

What makes you think it uses a modified Android system?

I will be very surprised if the cable really is the culprit. I don’t think you have demonstrated that it is responsible yet. My guess is that it is the lid resonating that is responsible. Gluing some sound deadening material to the lid should help by changing the frequency and providing some damping.

I also have a problem getting a signal to my DTV when using my Humax HDR 1800T. I have turned off power saving in sby as suggested and tried using a splitter to give the box and the TV separate feeds. I have also tried connecting the aerial through the box and to the TV. Howver, in both cases, as soon as I connect the Humax I get “weak signal” and no picture on certain channels.

It should work either way. Which channels have no picture?
