I apologise as I know that this will have been asked before but due to the volume of replies to previous posts I am finding it hard to locate a definite answer.

Please don’t post the same question twice in different parts of the Forum. I have answered your question in the 110S section.

Having read that this is most likely a problem with the boot up of the machine not locating the HDD rather than the HDD itself, can I please ask:

    a) Is there a simple fix for this problem or is my box bust?

    b) If I can’t retrieve my internal HDD will an external USB HDD work rather than buying a whole new machine?

The box may recover ( for a while at least) of its own accord if left switched off. You cannot record to an external USB drive. The best way forward is to contact Humax who are offering a reduced price of £55 on a refurbished unit for people suffering from this problem.

I bought my Humax HDR 2000T in the UK years ago and loved it.

I since emigrated to Australia in 2015, but find my Humax no longer has any functionality apart from watching the pre-recorded programmes recorded in UK.

Any advice will be highly appreciated.

I emailed Humax to see about getting the full new-remote 4000t codes and they responded with this (below).

Try posting the question on the hummy.tv forum; af123 the chief technical wizard there may be able to help.

I have no idea if it is vertically polarised or not.

Best part is….I have no idea what vertical polarisation is

If you look at the aerial are the elements in a vertical plane or a horizontal plane.

It’s an IDE drive. Could be faulty memory it was used with a desktop PC. I would have been around 30 at the time.

If it is an IDE drive then they first appeared in 1986 so more like 30 years old I suspect; still impressive that it still works. I still have my computer with the Rodime drive and I do intend to try and power it up and see if it still works when I have the time.

The IBM PC, launched on Aug 12 1981, had an IDE drive in it.

It most certainly did not. It had a floppy disk or cassette with twin floppy drives as an option (which I suspect was the most common configuration). The first model with a hard drive as standard was in 1983. The first IDE hard drive was in 1986.

I have hard disks that can be read from 40 yrs ago.

To have owned a hard drive forty years ago is impressive; what sort of technology were they? I thought I was a fairly early adopter of hard drives when I fitted a Rodime hard drive to an S100 personal computer in 1985 (had to write my own device driver).

The 2007 one was probably the 9200t and as far as I remember Elinker used the USB port, the RS232 port was reserved for software updates.

It MUST have been a 9200T as neither the 9150T or 9300T ever had functioning USB.

I live in an area with perfect TV reception and the stand-alone TV reports 100% signal quality and strength on all channels. My HDR 2000T has been fine for 5 years. In the last weeks, it gives me a black screen and a warning of weak or no signal.

A 100% signal strength may well be too high. Is there an amplifier in the aerial circuit (either a booster near the box or a distribution amp or a masthead amp)? Is it possible that is failing?

Hi , I joined this forum to explain a couple of problems I experienced with the Humax box which I’ve only had a couple of weeks

Which Humax box do you have? If the remote has an STB button then I think you will have posted in the wrong section of the Forum.

To the point — at that time, HUMAX told me and sent an elinker.

The LINK was via RS232 – so simple.

    Simple but very,very slow.

But, the subsequent machines have various things on the back panel – Ethernet on one – HDMI on the other.

Tell us the model names if you want a useful comment.

Any one else have this sort of baffling hardware – I’d love to hear from you ??

My guess would be that lots of people have an assortment of PVR hardware; if you tell us what you would like to achieve we may be able to help.

However when setting up the system the tv worked perfectly, including HD channels, but the 1800T kept giving “No Signal” even the engineer could not get it to work.

To help us understand your problem could you on the 9300 whilst watching BBC1 press Menu and Select System and then Signal Detection; tell us the reported signal strength and quality.

We don’t know what to purchase now and we probably need model which has a tuner that’s best at picking up weak signals as we live on the Suffolk coast where it is known to have a weaker signal.

Could you give the first 3 characters of your post code please.

Sadly, this isn’t linked to only BBC4 recordings, and it’s only just started happening. The warning about “no programme broadcast on this time” is by far the most frequent.

Could you give us some examples of failed recordings (Channel, program name, date/time and whether anything else was recording simultaneously)?

Thank you but I notice this needs an Ethernet cable to connect.

You plug the ethernet cable into the WiFi bridge and the Humax (it can be as short as you like) and the rest of the connection is by wireless.
