After years of trouble free service accessing the forum using Chrome, I have been getting the following response for about the last five days now – This page isn’t working

    myhumax.org didn’t send any data.

    ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE

Funnily enough I can access the forum without issue using Edge?

Works fine for me using Chrome 59.0.3071.104 on Windows 10 64 bit.

Please don’t post questions twice. I have replied in the other thread.

Its Liz again – the original questioner and I am 75!

I managed to get all the numbers off the Transmitter site and I managed to follow the instructions, the important part was doing the Auto Search first and stop immediately to clear original channels.

Then the only number which produced a good signal was 44 ( though not appearing on the transmitter site) however it worked and the BBC programmes were now sorted BUT the ITV programmes now non existent. I cannot find a transmitter number which will give BBC AND ITV.

What transmitter is the DigitalUK site suggesting will give best reception. Roughly how far away is it from where you are? Are you changing the Transmission field for each channel that you try?

Has anyone any ideas why I can’t set and keep the channel number in Installation??

It is entirely clear what exactly you are doing; try following this FAQ and see if it helps https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336

I read issues of freezing with the 9000 series and the fan always on before the update wasnt too popular.

What update are you referring to?

I agree that my experience will affect my opinion on the matter. I was brand loyal but found the customer service poor and the noisy hard drive was horrendous.

I completely fail to understand why when you were so unhappy you didn’t take it back which is what most people would have done.

The 9000 series seemed to have software update issues, fan always on,fan noise issues and clock failure issues.

Again I have a very different view of things. There were a lot of software updates for the 9200T but that was because Humax were listening to their customers and adding functionality with each release. I bought an early 9200T and watched it develop from basic, set recordings to start and finish at specified times recorder to a fully fledged Freeview recorder with Series Link and accurate recording. One could argue that Humax pushed the hardware a little too far but at least they were trying to react to what the customers wanted. I think the number of people complaining about fan noise on the 9200T was tiny; you obviously have very sensitive hearing. The clock problem only emerged after units had been in service for several years (five years in our case) and user Biggles on here came up with an explanation of the problem and a straightforward DIY solution. Apart from the clock issue the 9200T hardware has been pretty robust with very failure reports for other Humax designed components.

I sense than a period when it was going well(perhaps the Fox) but they crowded the product range with DTR vs HDR prefixes…youview and freesat. It just got a bit confusing as to what the latest freeview model was and who they were allowing to put branding on them. I think there was a 1000 a 1010 etc and various fascias for very similar models.

I agree the HDR-FOX T2 is probably the best recorder Humax have produced for the UK market and we are still using one. It wasn’t Humax who came up with the different standards such as Youview and Freesat but it is hardly surprising they offered boxes for the different standards. Forums like this exist to try and guide confused users through the maze of options.

Then they started building to a price to compete with others in the battle to lower prices. The HDR 2000T is flawed

That is your opinion; we have an HDR-2000T and it continues to give good service and we have no regrets about the purchase. There are some bugs in the software that Humax could have corrected but nothing that for us is show stopping.

My experience of that drive from Amazon is not a good one. As I mentioned here…

    https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/loud-buzzing-and-hot#post-58667

the HDD in my HDR1000S failed. I ordered that Seagate drive. It arrived in a Jiffy bag enclosed in the usual Amazon cardboard wrapper used for books/CD’s etc. Completely inadequate for a HDD. Nevertheless I put it in the 1000 and it initialised and ran OK. However, later when I booted up from s/by the box hung with the disk furiously seeking. I put the old, temporary, HDD back in the box and all OK. I put the new Seagate drive in a desktop cradle, wiped it and put it back in the 1000.

For reference I have been using that drive in a Humax HDR-FOX T2 for three years and approaching 20,000 power on hours with zero problems.

Same routine as before. I returned it to Amazon for a refund and got this…

    http://www.ebuyer.com/625081-wd-purple-2tb-3-5-sata-surveillance-hard-drive-wd20purx

…which with their Collect+ to a local store worked out cheaper than Amazon and it works perfectly.

af123 over at hummy.tv has technical objections to using the Western Digital Surveillance Drives for PVR usage.

grahamlthompson – 8 hours ago — decrypting on copying considerably slows down copying.

It’s time this myth was put to rest.

There’s a simple on/off flag in one of the sidecar files.

Nonsense. The flag simply says whether or not encryption can be removed (as standard SD recordings can be decrypted and HD cannot). Changing it does nothing to actually remove the encryption.

I have decided to go with the HDR-Fox T2, I have just bought a used one from EBay. It seems like a great box and by the look of it I should be able to upgrade the Hard Drive to a 1TB or maybe even 2TB disc, I will keep an eye on how the more recent boxes are getting on with Software upgrades or new model releases & maybe buy a newer box at some point over the next year or so.

I have been running a 2TB drive for several years without any problems. Using the custom firmware for the HDR-FOX T2 you can now fit drives larger the 2TB.

Can anyone tell me if the Hdr-2000T 500GB is similar to the Hdr fox-t2 ? I loved the FOX until it eventually packed up.

The user interface and functionality are similar but be aware that Humax have managed to introduce some bugs that didn’t exist in the similar HDR-FOX T2 software; we can live with them but other members of the Forum are more critical. In what way has your HDR-FOX T2 failed? I would be tempted to suggest looking for a second hand HDR-FOX T2.

Could it be a knackered SATA controller and not a faulty HDD?

This is well know fault that you could have found out about with just a modicum of research on this Forum. It isn’t the SATA controller that has failed but another component on the motherboard (some reports suggest a resistor). Humax were offering a fixed price repair for the problem at a cost of £26 but this has now been replaced by an offer of refurbished box for £55. Talk to Humax support; slightly tricky as you have opened the box.

Thanks, not resetting the settings is an update Humax ought to add ;-)

It doesn’t reset settings; it does reset the schedule of future recordings but the version you install will retain the schedule (as far as possible).

Do people think we’ll ever see anymore firmware updates to finally fix this buggy pile of ****?

I would agree there are some issues with the HDR-2000T but in my opinion describing it as a “buggy pile of ****” is way over the top. We have had an HDR-2000T bought a few months after the launch and it continues to give good service. The only issue we have had was that the original remotes were of poor quality but Humax replaced it (after about 12 months) without quibble with a new remote of better quality which continues to work well after three years.

I can’t see why a larger disk would not work, like a 3TB or 4TB

There’s no need for the Humax device to actually do the format, so long as you partition and format the drive correctly (as I had)

You will hit a brick wall at 2TB which is the size limit for am MBR style partition layout. Unless you want to develop your own kernel for the Humax to support a GPT partition style which would allow you to have a drive as large as you wish (up to somewhere around 8000 TB).
