It could be the signal is topping out at over 100%. If the blips were happening to me I would check signal Test under Settings and Channel Settings on the Settings ‘cog’ at the top of the ‘Home’ screen.
That sounds like instructions for an FVP-4000T; I actually have an HDR-FOX T2. I was enquiring to see if the problem is common to all Humax boxes or is a specific issue on the HDR-FOX T2.
The humax does not like signals that are too strong as I found out.
Thanks but I am rather well aware of that and my signal strength is a very comfortable 71%. If it was a signal quality issue then the problem would be in the recording; all the people seeing this problem agree that rewinding and replaying at the point where the blip occurred, the sound is present on the replay. My guess is that it is some sort of minor incompatibility on the HDMI interface, perhaps associated with the different versions of the HDMI standard (although they are supposed to be backward compatible).

I use top quality screened satellite 100 or R6. the landlord has probably used the cheapest reel rubbish available…why just on Channel 30 though? as other channels like BBC4 HD are lovely also in DVB T2
BBC4 HD does of course come from a different multiplex so I still think something is interfering with the signal on channel 30. It could be external interference alternatively a kink in a cable or a badly made joint causing signal reflections and producing an effect rather like a notch filter. Is it possible to look behind the wallplate to check the joints there?

My problem is with the PSB3 group which includes BBC1 HD BBC2 HD Its now effectively unusable as the quality is down to 10% and it fluctuates constantly from zero to 10 to 50 to 100
The signal strength is around 50%(when there) and I still cant understand why its only on this group.
Other groups work fine and it did all work for months when on channel 54 then it failed then they moved it to channel 30. It cant really be the box as it has handled that group for several months
That sounds to me like local interference. Is the aerial lead from the wall socket to the Humax of the screened type (preferably double screened)? Is the HDMI lead well screened and well separated from the aerial leads?

After 2 years of reasonbly reliable service, my 2000T has developed a tendency to scramble the picture at various times during playback. For example a recording of a 2 hr programme from ITV3 started breaking up towards the end. My transmiiter is Emley Moor and I live in York. The breakup has also occured on some other channels and is definitely getting worse
On checking the signal strength I had Strength 49% Quality 100% which I think is normal, so why the problem?
First guess would be that your box is not properly tuned. My advice would be to manually tune it using the instructions at http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336 It sounds complicated but once you have done it once or twice you realise it actually quite straightforward,

I have an EC930V/4000T and everything is fine here.
Please define “blips”?
Thanks for the feedback. The blips are the sound cutting out for a second or so maybe twice an hour (and the sound is present if you replay the affected section of the recording) although it is irregular and doesn’t follow an obvious pattern. Several people are seeing the same thing so it isn’t a fault on one specific item.

I am tuned into winter hill as the local transmitter does not broadcast some of the channels I am receiving. The PVR model is a Humax DTRT2100 obtained via BT. I have tried your guidance outlined below but the channel number is not being shown. Is there a different method for my model?
You have posted in a thread about the HDR-1800T/2000T. Perhaps the mods will move the question to the correct forum where you will hopefully get advice that relates to the box you have rather than the one people assumed you had based on where you posted the question.
Admin edit: posts moved to correct section

Hub 4
There used to be issue with early BT Home Hubs that stopped Linux boxes connecting but that doesn’t sound to be the case here. I have seen low level incompatibilities between kit that I have resolved temporarily by interposing a network switch between the incompatible devices. If you happen to have a spare one lying around then you could see if it helps. If it does then I will look up what I did to resolve the problem permanently because for the life of me I can’t remember at the moment.

What could cause this problem with these 5 only HD channels ? I am at my wits end. I live about 3 miles from the Sutton coldfield transmitter.
If you are that close to the transmitter then it is very possible that the signal strength is too high. If that is the problem then the solution would be to install a variable attenuator in the aerial cabling and find a setting that gives you good reception. Generally speaking an HDR-FOX T2 will work satisfactorily with a signal strength of 50% and pre DSO ours worked fine with a signal strength of 30%.

The product manual is not that informative though.
It seems to be the trend for most electronics these days.

Do you need a special TV aerial to receive all those channel recording capabilities at once?
No; any aerial capable of receiving the complete set of multiplexes from the local transmitter will do just fine.

Anyway, that’s my brief overview for now and I hope it’s of benefit to some. Unlike the FVP-4000T, I will certainly be keeping the FVP-5000T (assuming no major issues crop up) and am very happy with the experience so far. I don’t think anyone considering the upgrade would be disappointed.
Interesting thanks; do keep us updated with any further observations.

What about foxy??
No use; it would require the HDR-FOX T2 that made the recording to be functional which it isn’t.

will the EXT2/EXT3 driver allow me to see/identify the files, so that I can transfer them.
Yes but they will be unusable as they are encrypted and the only known way of removing the encryption and making them playable is to use the specific HDR-FOX T2 that made the recording (each HDR-FOX T2 has a different encryption key). I am sorry but I think you will have to regard the recordings as lost.

I’m trying to locate them on a laptop (windows 7), but they aren’t visible to the laptop to allow me to copy / transfer the files
You would need to load an EXT2/EXT3 driver eg EXT2FSD https://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsd/ but the files will still be encrypted. Is the HDR-FOX T2 not working?
