Now I am just wondering if things changed with the new Humax box (i.e. to now turn off), because there was something wrong with them being on if they were not being used.
It depends what you mean by “turn off”. If you mean turn off the electrical power then that is a bad idea; if you mean put in standby via the button on the remote then that is a reasonable thing to do if the box will not be used again for several hours to minimise hard drive usage. Putting it into standby for short periods is equally a bad idea as it subjects all the hardware to more thermal cycles.

Will HumaxRW work with a Mac running Windows 10 via Parallels desktop ?
I don’t recollect anybody reporting doing it but it might work. Alternately is it feasible to boot the Mac using a live Linux CD and then use the Linux version of humaxrw?

1) Is there any way of improving the handset beam?
At the risk of stating the obvious, have you checked the batteries?

Is this Humax forum owned or managed or edited by Humax company or Humax staff?
None of the above.

Example 104 Channel 4 uses 10714Mhz and is Horizontally polarised and is Low Band (LBV – Low Band Vertical).
Shouldn’t that be LBH?

I have one very basic question : The Audio L and R sockets on the back ….. are these OUTPUT sockets or INPUT sockets ?
They are output sockets.

Is this normal?
Yes.
Surely Copyright etc. are not anything to do with SD or HD?
The requirements for encryption are set by the broadcasters and they seem to want greater protection for HD content.

So just to be sure (and save me searching the forum) is there any way to recover the encrypted files on the old HDD ?
I am pretty sure there is not. The encryption requirement comes from the broadcasters.

Should the password just be letters and numbers and 12 char or less?
The password can be a lot longer than 12 characters but not the full 64 characters theoretically allowed by WPA2; my recollection is that somebody reported a limit of 39 characters.

Returned home. Switched on after a complete power-off for 3 days.
I have the dreaded:
“Connect a USB hard drive (HDD) to the box to be able to record programmes and pause live TV”
So it seems I have a knackered HDD
Why do you think that? It is more likely that you have a known fault in a component on the motherboard. Humax will offer you a replacement refurbished box at a special price of (I think) £55 if you ring them up and describe the fault.

Any ideas on how to fix would be appreciated.
Try leaving the box with the power disconnected for 24 hours.

It’s clear, then, that the issue’s confined to my unit.
No. On my Freeview HDR-FOX T2 a long standing series record had scheduled a recording 20:00 to 21:00 and ALSO a 20:30 to 21:00 recording. The 20:30 to 21:00 recording resulted in a failed recording.

If the file and sidecar files are restored to a different path then the recording is not displayed on the Foxsat.
As all the recordings are in the root of the file system I don’t see how the path could be wrong on a 9200T/9150T/9300T.

Not sure what that means but there are 4 files for each programme in the downloaded folder on my PC but don’t show in the Humax drive when I upload them.
The .ts is the file with the video in it and is the recorded broadcast content (plus timestamps). The other three files are created by the Humax and are referred to as the sidecar files for holding various bits of information.
Edit: Here is a link to an apparently successful transfer of programs back to a 9300T https://forums.digitalspy.com/discussion/1631636/9300t-programme-list-empty-but-hdd-shows-usage Unfortunately not enough technical detail to offer any help.
The person whose attention you want to attract is xyz321 who is the humaxrw author.

Having searched the Forum a bit more I am of the opinion that HumaxRW will not restore recordings on a 9300T. Does anyone know if this is correct.
Some people have successfully uploaded programs back to a 9300T using humaxrw but some have failed. Do the recordings you have uploaded have the correct set of sidecar files?
