    The software version is UKTFC1.01.18

I did a search for for new software but none found.

How did you search? Are you aware that Over the Air broadcasts of software updates have been discontinued? The latest version is 1.01.20 and the release notes say ” HDMI No Sound Issue is fixed.” so I think this would be worth you installing. Either connect the box to the Internet when it should (I think) find the update or download it from https://uk.humaxdigital.com/support/?product_id=1185&curr_page=sw_release Let us know whether it fixes your proble.

Chances are that this is not an issue that could easily be resolved if the OP simply gave us the information requested more than once 😳

I don’t think there is an issue. When the thread started she hadn’t purchased the Humax and was just looking for general guidance.

..but what does that mean in practical terms, relates to wifi speeds?

I am not an expert in this field but my understanding is that power is not related to speed. The increase in speed with the newer standards come from improvements in the way that the data is transmitted and more efficient use of multiple aerial configurations. Increase in power is related to the distance that the signal can be received at and the ability to penetrate through walls and other obstructions.

For example there are currently routers with AC5300, how high can that go within the limits of EIRP?

Sorry I don’t understand the question. Exactly what do you mean by “how high can that go”?

    Limited to what?

Maximum transmission power (EIRP) is limited but the limit differs between countries; in the EU it is 100mW.

Very very few have fibre into their homes

In which case I am one of the few. I only have FTTP because OpenReach didn’t enable the street cabinet for FTTC but it certainly works nicely.

So before I buy a 5000t I was wondering which way should I connect it to the internet- Ethernet or Wi-Fi?

My advice would be if it is easy to run an Ethernet cable from the router then that is likely to be the least troublesome and best performance. However if that isn’t easy then try the WiFi; if the signal strength is reasonable then it should be perfectly adequate.

If you’re watching one channel, but keeping an eye on another, for whatever reason — eg, a sporting event* you’re quite interested in following, but don’t want to actually watch all the time.

    * football match, marathon, tennis match, or a flat stage in the Tour de France.

Yup I use the Back button functionality on the HDR-FOX T2 in similar circumstances so I am with you that it is useful some times.

Just wondering what might cause this or is it just a bug in the software?

It looks like a bug to me.

Can anyone tell me what the copy function is for on a FVP 5000T.

I presume you can copy programmes to a USB stick. But will I be able to use the USB stick on any tv to play back the files?

Yes there is a chance if they are SD recordings, no if they are HD recordings. Whether they will play back on a particular TV depends on the media player the TV is using.

From the Disk Management where it is listed as Disk 6.

    So I type in humaxcheck 6: -p -w

You seem to be doing everything correctly as far as I can tell.

I do wonder if this is cause perhaps of recent Windows 7 & 10 updates, perhaps some sort of security measure by Microsoft?

In the wonderful world of Microsoft anything is possible. Maybe try Windows XP as you suggested in your first post.

Hi Martin, by right clicking on Command Prompt from the start menu and selecting “Run as administrator”.

OK that should be fine. Another stupid question, how are you determining the value to use for x:?

    humaxcheck x: -p -w

How are you getting into Administrator mode?

I would guess they are indeed encrypted. How did you transfer the files to the Linux computer?

    USB & FTP

FTP would almost certainly leave them encrypted. I would have expected copy to USB to remove the encryption but maybe barry could comment if this true for radio?
