Humax never tell anyone.
Most Humax software releases have a note giving a brief indication of what has changed. My suspicion is that sometimes there are bug fixes that are not mentioned but the claim that “Humax never tell anyone” is simply wrong.

Hi, deleted all channels then ran autotune – no change, it’s still doing it.
It would be better to do a manual tune using these instructions: http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/week-old-9300t-and-epg-wont-fill-up-for-week#post-7097

Is there a better Samba SMB package on the way?
I doubt it as the later versions of SMB require much more space.

I assumed it was a failed HDD so have bought a new 5000T
If it is a failed hard drive it would be much cheaper to replace the hard drive.

I have just bought a Humax HDR1100s Freesat and when I connect it to the internet using the existing cable from when I had sky it stops the phone from working.
Could you explain what you mean by “stops the phone from working” eg is the phone completely dead or a screeching noise on the line or something else.

Please see below:
I am guessing the file size of the image is too big.

Also the box says there is no signal on certain channels even though the TV is showing them fine and the TV gets the signal via the 5000t box
That sounds as though the box may not be correctly tuned. Try doing a manual tune using these instructions from the FAQ https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/manual-tuning-instructions-1 If that doesn’t resolve the problem then post the signal strength and quality whilst tuned to BBC 1.

Copying the files – I am on a windows 10 desktop does not pose a problem for me. I simply cannot get the files to play with anything even when adding .mp2
Again if the extension comes across as .ts (which I think is what the image is showing) any amount of extension changing won’t alter the fact it is still encrypted. Please can you post a screen shot of Windows Explorer similar to the one I posted in post #4.

Error message from VLC
That is a .ts file and won’t be decrypted; when decrypted it will appear as a .mp3 file of identical size.

Maybe Humax have changed radio to .ts after Barry posted in the faqs or when copied the container is changed from .ts to .mpg
Yes the file type is changed when copied.

I've used my Christmas Amazon vouchers to buy the fvp5000t purely for recording radio. I'd researched it and planned to use the samba method. Finally managed to map a Windows 10 for it.
I went through the same struggle. Mapping a drive won't work. You need to get the FVP displaying in Windows Explorer in Network Locations with a DMS suffix (see attachment) and then suddenly everything works (ie SD TV recordings and radio recordings are decrypted on copy). There is a FAQ from Barry that I began to doubt but it is correct see https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/file-transfer

Just purchased a Humax HDR1800T and have managed to register it etc, but I am unable to add Netflix for some reason.
As far as I know you can’t add Netflix to an HDR-1800T; do you have any reason to believe that it is possible? It is available on some later Humax boxes.

But to be fair, my unit has NEVER found an OTA update and has NEVER found the update on USB using “check new software”.
There are no OTA updates these days for any product from any manufacturer. I thought the check for new software initiated a check over the Internet and has nothing to do with a USB update. Is your box connected to the Internet?

I tried that already but still the same

How old is the box? Failure of the hard drive is always a possibility.

Does this mean there is then something wrong with my 5000 or is the machine not really up to dealing with these problems.
Your box behaved in a very similar manner to several other peoples so having the box replaced will not help and as the chances are it would be replaced with a refurbished box it might make things worse. It is hard to know whether the FVP-5000T should have behaved better in a rather unusual circumstance (because we can’t go back and see when the meta data from the broadcaster changed) but for us the general recording performance is acceptable.
