I’m copying from the Humax to a USB formatted as NTFS attached to the PC although the same problem occurs when copying to the PC’s HDD which is formatted as EXT4 by the Linux Mint installation. Filezilla is v3.15 from the software repository.
On that basis I would have said the problem is at the Humax end. Can any FOXSAT owner confirm? If you install the custom firmware for the FOXSAT there is an alternative FTP server available.

The 2.2GB problem occurs when using Filezilla in Linux Mint 18/18.1 to copy files by FTP from the Foxsat. I find it strange that it worked fine with Ubuntu 14.04 but not with Mint which is based on Ubuntu 16!
I take it you are copying from the Humax to the PC on to a drive formatted with a Linux file system? What version of Filezilla is it?

I have downloaded the update but I have been unable to extract the Zip file for Mac
What exactly have you done?

Today I found that the Humax HDR 2000T Date of purchase 27 July 2015 developed this fault.
All the programs that have been recorded have picture but no longer have any sound.
What software version is the box running? There was an update issued at the beginning of last year to address this problem; see https://uk.humaxdigital.com/support/?product_id=794&curr_page=sw_release

It was said that the component was a resister.
I am aware of that but has it ever been proved?

I have read this could be due to a faulty resistor. If so which resistor would need replacing? I have also read it could be due to the SATA controller? Is this same thing as the resistor or entirely different?
I doubt that it is the SATA controller because Humax were offering to repair faulty boxes at one time and I would guess the SATA controller isn’t a single component but is part of the System on a Chip from Broadcom which I would have thought would be very difficult to replace. I think it is more likely to be a discrete component but I don’t think anybody here knows which component.
Would it be a DIY job or would I need a professional (I’m not an electrical engineer but use play around with solder and iron when I was a teenager!)
So did I but electronics have got a lot smaller since then. Your call.
Also I came across these guys that do repairs for 55 quid. Anyone used them?
I think they were the company that Humax were using to do the repairs. I think there have been a few favourable reports but do update us if you decide to use them.

You can also copy them over a network but my 1000T uses Samba 1.0, which Windows 10 disabled in a recent update as it’s a security exposure.
Please could you clarify exactly which model of Humax box you have?

I am seeking some advice with issues i am having with my grandmothers HDR FOX T2.
Recently the auto-tuning sequence has not been detecting most BBC HD channels and some non-HD channels now not being able to viewed (no signal). Also auto tunning can vary somewhat in its results
Please tell us the signal strength and quality as reported by the Humax when tuned to the SD version of BBC One (Menu button>Settings>System>Signal detection)? Cam you give some examples of the non-HD channels that are not available?

Humax RW front end worked first time with no problems.
Couldn’t have been easier.
Excellent. Can you confirm the recordings can be played on the PC?

Are you able to direct me to instructions for connecting the hard disk upto my PC?
First thing to do is buy an IDE to USB adapter with a power supply eg Link to ebay
Disconnect the PVR from the mains, take off the lid (five screws which are obvious), disconnect the cables from the hard drive, remove the hard drive and caddy (four screws). Connect the IDE to USB converter to the hard drive, connect the power supply to the hard drive. Turn on the power to the power supply. Plug the USB connector into the PC.

As I understand what you have said:
1. I will need to directly access the Humax disk, not use the USB interface.
Correct.
2. Files transferred to my PC by the means you propose will only be useable when tranferred back to another Humax device.
Am I correct?
No; they can be played on any device that will play .ts files eg a PC.
Is it at all possible to use the USB interface, given that my PC is running Windows 10?
I haven’t tried with Windows 10 but it was never a very satisfactory solution. If you really feel this is the best way for you then try it and report back what happens.

So would an alternative external drive of 800 GB work ?
Yes providing the partition table is MBR anything up to 2TB formatted as NTFS, FAT32 or Ext2/3 should work.

I want to copy from my Humax 5000T to a WD 4T external usb connected hard drive.. This external HD already stores some windows 10 nackup files.
please can you tell me
Is this practical?
If you mean that you want to plug the drive into the Humax then I doubt it will work. Any drive larger than 2TB will probably have a GPT style partition table; the Humax (as far as I know) will only work with drives using the older MBR partition style.

Afternoon all is it ok to use my freeview recorder on it’s side using a bracket that fits onto the tv stand?
Probably; just check that the case isn’t getting too hot.

They are all SD recordings.
Then you should be able to play them on any device you wish.
