Well, spoke too soon – turned out it was still up to its tricks after all. Don’t know why it briefly appeared to be OK. So it’s not a cable issue.
But have you eliminated the powerline adapters as a possible cause? They have certainly been responsible for several problems reported on this Forum. If you go back to the long cable from Humax to router does the problem go away? What make and model are the powerline adapters? Note there is nothing wrong in principle with powerline or homeplug adapters; I use them myself.

That is beyond my competence. Can I hook up the old box to a new box (using the usb cable) and transfer everything across?
Sorry but no. The only way to do it is using the process outlined by Graham.

It’s always bold in the forum list for me (and the only one that’s not actually a new post) regardless of it’s position.
For the record, I see exactly the same behaviour as Trev with Windows 10 and Chrome.

Hi all, I’ve had the same problem. We went to Berlin for a long weekend last Friday 4th October, when we returned our 4000t had frozen up, and after a hard reboot we found that all the recordings that should have happened from Saturday evening had failed due to loss of power. There had been no power cut over the weekend.
I have seen this happen very occasionally on various PVRs over many years without any subsequent problems. My advice is if it happens again in the next few months then start to worry about the hardware. If it doesn’t then put it down to the software on the box getting itself into an odd state.

However, the remaining adaptor is 12v and 1.5A.
Do I assume that this isn’t the correct adaptor?
I don’t know for sure but as the 1800T has a 2.5″ hard drive whereas the 2000T has a 3.5″ hard drive that will require more power, I think it is feasible that the power brick for the 1800T will be lower power. My recollection is that the size of the barrel that plugs into the Humax is very uncommon so I suggest you try plugging it into the Humax with the mains lead not plugged in. If it fits properly (ie is not loose in the socket) I think that it is very likely you have the correct one.

I get a few of these reported as failed when starting playback. About 99% start playback after 15 seconds or so. They all seem to record fine to the end.
In the case I mentioned what should have been a 30 minute recording was only 10 minutes so no hope of it playing properly.

ParticipantI had a reported loss of power broken recording last week which seemed to coincide with me putting the box into standby whilst a recording was in process; obviously it should work OK.

Is there. a reason I shouldn’t use a Scart lead ? It’s what I’ve always done with my digi boxes….
No reason not to use a SCART lead but using an HDMI cable will give much better picture quality.

The box may have a more sensitive tuner than the TV and the level is high enough to cause signal clipping.
I wouldn’t have thought the quoted 75% signal strength was too high?

We have recently had our external aerial repositioned after it rotated in high winds. It is now pointing, (as others are locally), toward Bristol Illchester Crescent transmitter. The Humax has been retuned.
How did you do the retune? Have you checked that the Humax is receiving on the correct set of multiplex channels? If in doubt try a manual tune using the instructions at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336

Strength 98%
Quality 100%
OK I beg to disagree with your assessment that those levels are fine. I would say a signal strength of 98% is quite possibly too high and could be causing tuner saturation. I would suggest you experiment by either reducing gain if you have a variable gain amplifier or inserting a variable attenuator into the aerial feed to the Humax and aim for a signal strength of about 80% and see if this fixes your problem.

link below, its an ebay sale
Thanks, I see what you mean. I note that the link is showing out of stock. Frankly I don’t know whether the encryption would interfere but from an excess of caution I would get something without encryption.

just checking, the 1TB – WD Elements says it uses encryption, I assume this does not effect its use for the Humax HB 1100s unit?
Can you post a link to where you are seeing the statement that it uses encryption (I can’t see anything in the descriptions I can find)?

The signal strength and picture are usually fine.
Please could you define what you think “fine” is for the levels?

I was hoping to be able to be able to upload the programs via the Humax RW Front End program as it has an upload tab. I guess this might only work for 9200-t.
It should work but there seems to be some sort of minor issue that means they don’t always show up.
Probable easier to convert the ts files to MP4 and put them on a USB stick.
Your call.
