I’ll see how successfully it works at recording and playing back. I’d hope that should work without hitch, but overall it’s been a disappointing start so far.
My experience is that recording and playback are generally OK. The only problem I see is that in situations where the EPG is being updated in real time (typically because of an overrunning sports program or similar) the FVP boxes are slower to implement the changes than the earlier HDR-FOX T2 and you may lose some content.

Yes, I tried it this morning (after taking photos) and the schedule was retained.
Thanks; good to know it works the same on the FVP.

I can’t find PCM in the menu on the foxsat. The FVP5000T is a free view box, I have no aerial and live in poor reception area anyway. Is the hdr1100s the most up to date Freesat box? It seems to have been around for a few years, is there another box due for release soon?
The HDR-100S is currently the most up to date Freesat box. Humax didn’t win the contract for the next generation Freesat box which I think went to Arris. It is a year since they were awarded the contact but I don’t know when the G3 box is due to be launched.

I can use iPlayer on my iPhone and iPad, so it is something specific about how the FVP accesses on demand services.
If it is like the earlier Humax boxes then all access to on demand is via a Humax portal (I have never quite understood why).

I know that, in general, it is necessary with the 5000T to reload the schedule after a retune, but is that still true on manually retuning a single mux on which no recordings are currently scheduled? In other words would all the other schedules go anyway?
I don’t know on the FVP; I think on earlier Humax boxes it was possible to do a single MUX retune without losing the schedule on other MUXes. Give it a try after making sure you have recorded your schedule and let us know.

I have found out what the issue was. It was a poor Snap & Seal connection.
Well done; poor connections can create a “notch” filter that removes a particular multiplex.

I have swapped the Humax boxes and the issue persists. I get signal strength of 79 and quality of 100 in both rooms.
The room I have the issue with I get frequent black screens with “unable to receive because the signal is too weak” Looking on menu/settings/signal detection I see the quality moving between 78-79% I actually dont get any issues if you I watch the TV directly using the internal TV tuner. I am fairly sure when I monitor the signal I see drops right down to zero and then it comes back, which may explain the black screen and signal messages. I have swapped the two identical Humax boxes and the issue persists, so I dont think its a hardware issue.
That is an odd problem and you seem to have done the sensible things. One possibility you don’t seem to have considered is the possibility of one channel on the amplifier developing a fault (not very likely). Perhaps change the cables at the amplifier end and see if the fault stays or moves.
If you want to check you are connected to the correct set of mutilkpex channels from Hannington then try reading the (recently updated) manual tuning FAQ https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/transmitters#post-2336

Any recommendations?
The first thing you need to decide is how much you want to spend and how big a hard drive you want. Do you need a full range of catch up options? Give us some parameters to work with please.

I was trying to series link David Attenborough’s 7 worlds- previous episodes recorded fine. And war of the worlds. Both on bbc 1 hd.
I recorded David Attenborough’s 7 worlds successfully but in SD. I don’t think I ever got round to scheduling War of the Worlds so that certainly didn’t record. Which transmitter do you receive from? If you don’t know, your postcode will enable us to lookup the possibilities. There were some significant changes on some transmitters last Friday which would require a retune.

They were not recorded. The series links had vanished. I added them again.
I haven’t seen this; was the recording schedule completely blank? The most obvious reason would be that the box had been retuned which , unless smart retune is used, will wipe the recording schedule.

I guess I have to simplify the question. How do I get rid of Games appearing on the Menu and how do I bring back the record/playback facility? Can that be done?
The Games option, which is always present, becomes more visible when the hard drive isn’t accessible. If you have been having problems for a while then I am hazarding a guess that the hard drive has failed. If you want a cheap solution buy a secondhand hard drive, preferably one designed for PVR usage, and see if that fixes it.

I’ve been having ongoing problems with my PVR9300T for some time now, yesterday evening I did a full reset and HDD format. All seemed to go well until I selected Menu and found that the Record feature had disappeared and Games had been introduced at the end of the list. How do I get my much used record and playback feature back please?
My guess is that the hard drive is failing. Your choices are to replace the hard drive or buy a new PVR. Given that the 9300T has a number of known issues I am inclined to suggest you buy a new PVR. Depending on your budget and requirement for disk capacity an HDR-1800T or an HDR-2000T or a Youview DTR-T2000 might be suitable. Reconditioned models are available from Humax Direct with a years warranty https://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/refurbished.html
Happy to provide instructions if you prefer to fit a new hard drive which isn’t difficult.

Anyone have any ideas what may be causing the problem.
The first thing to do is to check what software version the box is using (Menu button> Settings> System >System Information. If it is earlier than 1.01.20 then you need to update the software either by connecting the box to the internet or downloading the update and following the instructions at https://uk.humaxdigital.com/support/?product_id=794&curr_page=sw_release

But below it is also the name of the song. Surely one of these should be the name of the artist. Can this be changed/fixed ?
Only by Humax. You could lodge a request with Humax support but I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting to see if anything happens.

My 2000t HD recorder had lost ALL HD channels and I can not retrieve them. I noticed that on the scan is limited to channels (frequencies) 22-28. but I believe that the HD channels are outside of the scanning parameters shown on the box.
Please can you tell us which transmitter you think you should be receiving from? If you don’t know then can you provide your postcode?
I do not wish to factory reset as I will lose all my pre-recorded programs.
You will not lose your existing recordings if you factory reset.
