Is there no way of using the USB to PC Cable and transfer files that way?

You could try Media eLinker on an XP machine see https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/media-elinker-0414 Pretty slow as I remember it and best to set the Humax to a channel that isn’t broadcasting anything whilst doing the download.

I using BT power line adapters.

Could you specify which model please.

    Transparent Display Is turned off.

    OK.

    Use rechargeable batteries.

I would not use rechargeable batteries in a remote control; they typically have a rated voltage when fully charged of 1.25V to 1.3V. The disposable batteries supplied by Humax have a rated voltage of 1.5V and in my experience will last for at least a couple of years.

    am I doing something wrong???

Yes. To use Humaxrw you need to take the lid off the 9200T and connect the hard drive directly to the PC using an IDE to USB converter such as this one on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-2-0-to-SATA-IDE-Converter-HDD-Cable-For-2-5-3-5-Hard-Drive-CD-DVD-RW-Rom/164367726345? NB you need the external power supply; beware cheaper units that don’t include the power supply.

The problems i am facing are sometimes when bring, the FVP 5000T out of stand by only half the icons at the bottom of the main screen only show, also sometimes get a message telling me no internet connection, but have changed the Cable but still get the problem.

Does the cable run directly to the router or are there powerline adapters involved?

also sometimes when bring the box out of standby press the white menu button on the remote and the menu will not appear keep press the white button on the remote and the menu will appear.

Sometimes I do find the box is slow to respond for a couple of minutes after starting up.

Also sometimes when I press the white button to load the menu up the channel that the box is on stays on and guide is on top of the the picture.

In the “on-Screen Display” section of settings is the “Transparent Display” setting on or off?

Also sometimes the remote control will not work have charged the battery but still get the problem.

You say that you Have “charged the battery”; are you attempting to use rechargeable batteries?

Also sometimes when I press say the white button on the remote the box will turn off.

    How frequently does that happen?

I am not convinced that reinstalling firmware or changing the hard drive will help with any of these issues.

So if I replaced the hard drive with a new one just have to download the software to a USB stick and install it.

So if I format the hard drive could and stop box from setting up could I run the setup from the USB stick?

Can we go back to the start please. Exactly what problems do you have with the box?

Thanks for getting back to me, you say that the software is a flash ram on the motherboard, I had a old FVP 4000T box and the hard drive died so I replaced the hard drive with the same one that was in the box but after I had done this the box would not record because I was told that the software was installed on the hard drive and humax told me that the software was too old and they no longer had the software.

What Humax support say and the reality of the situation are not always the same thing. The software for all the Humax boxes that I know about is in flash RAM. The FVP-4000T uses the same software as the FVP-5000T so how they could say they didn’t have it is just beyond my comprehension.

Is there a way to give feedback to ask humax if there can update the software and build the software update into the full version of software.

All the software update versions are complete, full versions of the software. The only way I know to give feedback to Humax is to contact the support department.

No need to go on rumour and hearsay any more. Find your own fastest. Mine happens to be 212.118.241.1 or 212.118.241.33 (today) which is four times faster than using 192.168.1.1 (My Archer 2800’s DNS) and measurably faster (but not by much) than 208.67.222.222/220 mentioned above.

Is there any evidence that the speed of the DNS response is a significant factor? In my view it is the consistency and accuracy of the DNS response that matters.

Yes, those are the settings in my Archer router that I set to the two DNS values mentioned in post 13 above.

But you didn’t make it clear that you were setting the DNS in the DHCP section; I think most people would have assumed you were setting it for the WAN.

Have you tried setting up the DNS values either in your router or, if you are connected to the router by Ethernet, in the box?

Also if you are poking around in your router, check in the DHCP section whether you can set the DNS server allocated to DHCP clients. This is certainly possible with my ASUS router.

I am having problems with my FVP 4000T box and I want to format the hard drive and wipe all the software off the box and re-stall the software from the Humax webpage, can someone tell me how I do this.

I take it that you are aware that the software isn’t held on the hard drive (it is in flash RAM on the motherboard)? The software on the Humax web site isn’t the latest version but gives the instructions for installing it, see https://uk.humaxdigital.com/support/?product_id=3793&curr_page=sw_release You can format the hard drive on the box by: Freeview play button>Settings>PVR Seetings>Recording Options>Format storage.

You might want to describe the problems you are having before doing any of this.

Started auto retune and stopped immediately to clear channels

You need to save at this point before manual tuning.

We have changed to drive but still has the same problem.

I assume you changed the hard drive and that didn’t fix the problem. This is a well known problem caused by a fault on the motherboard (exactly what the fault is isn’t clear). It can be repaired at a cost of £69.95 (which includes carriage in both directions) and is no fix no fee. See https://www.digirepairs.co.uk/product/repair-booking-humax-freesat-plus-freeview-plus-youview-plus-box-repairs-2/

Is there anything else I can try to resolve the problem?

I think you have done the right things so far. What model of hard drive was the one you removed from the box and what model have you now fitted?

About 50 miles away, but more or less line of sight with signal strength of 85%.

Do you have an amplifier in the aerial setup?

Sorry, I misread the chart. The number under S is 96, which is presumably something to do with signal strength, so very good.

    Agreed it ought to work.

So why am I getting zero signal on COM7 ? Very strange.

How far from Winter Hill are you?
