I want to know if the Aura’s picture quality is going to be better than the 5000T. Which was abysmal.
My experience is that FVP-5000T picture quality is excellent. Are you sure you were using the correct resolution setting on the FVP?

I don’t think any Humax Freeview boxes automatically update channels. They have to be retuned by the user.
That certainly isn’t true. The HDR-FOX T2 without custom firmware will certainly retune automatically. What the custom firmware adds is the ability to do a virtual retune i.e. the settings in the database about the various multiplexes are updated without actually doing any tuning.

Has anyone tried a USB external SSD to add archive storage to the 2000T? Just thinking that with such light use, it ought to outlast a HDD and perhaps fail read-only if ever it did?
I think I have heard of one or two people who have used a USB SSD drive without problem for transfer to and from a Humax.
But does the need for MBR as opposed to the more modern GPT shorten its life given the clever things that are done behind the scenes to extend SSD lifespans?
No the choice of partition scheme doesn’t, as far as I know, have any bearing on the life of the drive. The clever wear levelling stuff is done by the drives own firmware without the file system knowing about it.

Seems like there’s always some channel or other changing it’s frequency…
The most recent changes are mainly changes of the logical channel number (LCN) rather than frequency changes.

How would that explain the lack of any content in the backwards epg.
It wouldn’t but it would explain failed recordings and missing programmes in the forward EPG. Problems with the backwards EPG can sometimes be fixed by specifying a DNS server other than the network router; easy to do if the Internet connection is via the ethernet port; a bit trickier if it is via WiFi.

MyHumax 5000T….is regularly missing recordings that are scheduled. Im sick of it & getting ready to jump manufacturers. If she says to me once more, “Humax hasnt recorded that episode of Corry St” I think I might throw a banana at her..
Also most of the time the FreeView Play TV guide is ‘MISSING INFORMATION'[/b] either on the hours to come or on hours past, no programs appear at any time slots. Its very frustrating that a product is not performing well regularly on its basic requirement functions.
Both of the problems you are reporting suggest that the Humax is not tuned correctly. I suggest you try a manual tune using the instructions in the FAQ at https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/manual-tuning-instructions-1 NB the first URL in those instructions is out of date; use https://www.freeview.co.uk/help Please come back with any problems following the instructions.

Thinking of buying new PVR.2000T is getting faulty in many ways. Have about 40 hours of files. Is there any easy way to transfer them from the 2000T to the new machine.
Are the recordings HD or SD? SD recordings can be decrypted by copying to a USB memory stick or hard drive attached to the Humax. HD recordings need methods that are outside the rules of this forum.

Just plugged in component instead of hdmi and saw the message overlaid while the picture/sound were playing!
Was the HDMI cable still plugged in? If so remove it.

If the problem is fixed I guess I need new dongle but am a little confused by the range on offer and would appreciate any advice
You do need to be careful about choice of dongle as the Humax boxes usually support only one or two chipsets. This looks to me to be a suitable dongle https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Compatible-Wireless-HDR-1000S-HDR-FOX-HB-1000S/dp/B01B4YQQK8/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?

Why was the internal HDD’s content showing in a subfolder of a newly formatted
external HDD? My guess is that the size has indeed confused the filing system.
Clearly something is very wrong but I don’t know what.
What size external drive do you understand to be the maximum?
I have always thought that 2TB was the limit (it is certainly the limit for drives with MBR style partitions) but maybe someone else can recollect a drive bigger than 2TB being used?

The remote is RM-LO8 the 5000t is about a year old.
OK I just wondered if you had one of the very early RM-L08 remotes which were notoriously poor quality and replaced free of charge by Humax but that was a lot longer than 2 years ago.

Yes, it was a single 3TB partition.
Interesting; I wonder if anybody knows what trick the makers of USB hard drives are using to allow the Humax to access a volume large than 2TB?
That drive recently died (mechanically I suspect) after many years of use. The new 4TB will be again just one partition and likewise not an SSD either.
OK, please let us know how it performs.

One of the main reasons for buying this was to use the server features – which, as yet, do not work.
Perhaps you could explain what you hope to do with the server feature? Is this SD or HD content?

It was 3TB. I’m glad you always correct these small slips, you may be one of the very few left to do so…!
3TB formatted as a single partition?
Would it be better to let the Humax format it to ext3? I’ve read somewhere that NTFS is more ‘write intensive’, if that equates to shortening the HDD’s life?
I don’t know if NTFS is more write intensive; if it is and the drive is an SSD then it might be worth reformatting but otherwise I wouldn’t bother. It is possible that ext3 would be faster than NTFS as the ext3 driver will be in the kernel but I think the NTFS driver on a Humax is a FUS (file system in userspace) driver.

i have a hisense tv along with the 5000t.
the remote is doing my head in, some buttons work all the time, vol, on/off, guide but many are intermittent.
Which Humax remote do you have and when did you buy the Humax?
