Signal strength has nothing to do with the box, but everything to do with the aerial etc. and location.
When signal strength is reported as a percentage then I think it is entirely possible that different makes and model of PVR will give different readings for the same signal.

The HDR-2000T/HDR-1800T only had minimal internet capability (iPlayer and I am not sure if that is working currently). Later models have a much wider range of players.

I think what I would really like is another Humax that is as near as possible to my 9300t but able to receive HD. I have tried a FVP-400t and found it a disaster.
So a Humax HDR-2000T or HDR-1800T would fit the requirement. If you are not interested in them could you tell us why please?

I get the impression that generally there are far fewer noisy Humax HDR-1800T units (those with a 320GB drive) compared to HDR-2000T units these days. As they run the same software an HDR-1800T may be a safer bet over an HDR-2000T.
Fair point Luke. We have an early HDR-2000T which is reasonably quiet but I understand that at some point in the production Humax changed the hard drive mounting which is probably responsible for the complaints. The HDR-1800T uses a smaller 2.5″ hard drive (as opposed to the 3.5″ drive in the 2000T) which may also help.
The Manhattan T2-R does not have Freeview Play, or catch-up, capability which the T3-R has, but is otherwise very similar to the T3-R apart from being noticeably cheaper.
Another interesting point. What I like about the T3-R is that Manhattan are reportedly actively updating the software to add features. I don’t know if this true of the T2-R?

Having been pleased with my 9300t for some years I would like to replace it with a PVR capable of receiving HD Freeview.
Can anyone recommend which model would be the nearest in terms of simplicity of operation and clear EPG etc? I do not require internet capability.
If you want to stay with Humax then an HDR-2000T might fit the bill. If you want to look further afield then a Manhattan T3-R would be worth considering.

Then a couple of evenings after the recordings vanished, I found all the recordings had re-appeared and everything now seems back to normal!!
The new Freesat Box is going to be returned the day after lockdown!!
Careful. It is a characteristic of this problem that recordings reappear after a period of leaving the box unused but it is highly likely that they will disappear gain before long.

The usual method for playing standard definition and radio recordings on one HDR-2000T from another HDR-2000T is to use their DLNA capability.
Interested that you say it will only play DLNA content that is standard definition. On the earlier HDR-FOX T2 and the later FVP-5000T it is also possible to play HD content by the use of DTCP. Any ideas why this isn’t possible on the HDR-2000T?

Just to further add to this question, when downloading from Humax harddrive to computer, what GB size will the computer need to have.
It depends how large the hard drive is in the 9300T and whether the hard drive is full. I think the 9300T were supplied with 320GB or 500GB drives. So the maximum space you will require is 500GB but it could be a lot less.

No. I am saying that the supplied version of humaxrw for Windows will run on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows but the Linux version will run on 32 bit versions of Linux but will only run on 64 bit versions of Linux if 32 bit compatibility libraries are installed.
I also don’t understand administrative privileges or administrator account are,as I haven’t come across these before but I can competently use a computer.
What version of Windows are you intending to use?

I installed the recommended dongle a couple of the weeks ago and am happy to report 100% success! There has not been any buffering and although I wouldn’t say it was faster than an ethernet cable (how can it be?) it does seem as fast. Amazing performance and many thanks for your help Martin, much appreciated!
Thanks for taking the time to come back and update us; pleased it is now working. I agree that both WiFi and a hard wired connection should have a much higher performance than is required for streaming and hence be indistinguishable.

Hi, new to forum, but usual problem, my 9300t has lost recordings, it’s the fifth time since 2009 but I want retrieve these, do I need to download the Linux version in attachments, or do I need to download checker and win32 as well,I don’t have a computer at the moment, only a tablet,what versions of Windows is compatible with humaxrw.
You need humaxrw (Linux or Windows); the Linux version will only work on a 64 bit version of Linux if the 32 bit compatibility libraries are installed. As far as I know humaxrw will work on Windows XP to Windows 10 (32 bit or 64 bit) but with later version of Windows you must run it with administrative privileges (not just from an administrator account).

I can’t remember exactly what we had to do but the info is in the thread topic I linked.
The critical action was to change the partition scheme from GPT (that the Humax doesn’t support) to MBR.

I have a 9300T and I have a fairly full HDD on which I have lots of stuff I want to keep. I have a box of pre-used HDDs which I guess I can re-format to whatever. My question is that as there is no USB socket on the 9300T, I take it that I have to take out the HDD and connect it to my PC to copy the files.
Correct and you will need to use software that understands the proprietary file system on the 9300T; I suggest humaxrw is the best choice and there is a graphic front end for it if you don’t like command line utilities.
Are you intending to play the saved files on the PC? If so any file system that the PC understands will be fine (NTFS, FAT32) etc.
